How many ways can you show one quarter? Gr 7 Ss @LeslieThomasSch used a fraction square to shade 1/4 as many different ways as they could. One question that led to lots of rich conversations. #HRCEMath @FractionTalks

I will also say that I tend to use this as a number talk/@FractionTalks pretty early on in the Gr 4 fraction work, and it really brings out some important ideas around unit fractions and equivalence. But a different purpose than your original tweet!

@FractionTalks I use the number talk routine: silent think time, turn over the copy of their image when they have something to show and discuss with a partner, pair and share, then a few volunteers share to the class
