5. (Lastly) Education is fixable. Pay teachers livable wages, incentivize majoring in edu, eliminate useless spending on tests, absent positions, & too many online interventions. Teach new parents to parent, return to stricter decorum for students etc Piece of cake right?! 😅

4. Teachers Unions are simultaneously the solution and problem Im a member of the union & love my union. However they also shield the worst in our profession. The ones you have to cover for every single day bc they just don’t care & know they can’t be fired. It’s frustrating

3. Tada —> DATA… Its all that matters. Not that its reliable, or semi reliable, or even close to being realistic. Doesnt matter if its collected in a quiet classroom, a house w/ a mouse or a box w/ a fox Just get it so a rich some1 in an office somewhere can make a decision

2. Schools test too much (surprise!)… For ex: if you were a G1 ESOL student, you sat through 8 separate tests in the last 3 weeks for between 12-15 hours total. They are 6 years old. That can barely read, & some dont speak English….wth are we doing?

1. Dept of Eds will highlight every reason your school is failing, except one - staff vacancies…they avoid it like a water fountain in the pandemic Like no, we’re 70% staffed with no subs. Do the math & tell me how many SPED/ESOL being serviced or how real instruction happens

Got a new principal. One with a shared vision, so I’ve taken on more admin responsibilities this year due to staff vacancies. Also taking on leadership roles in every aspect - testing, technology, scheduling, school imprv etc And this is what Ive noticed from behind the curtain

@theDRAMAgoat1 I’ve had my wrist slapped for even mentioning an alternate placement or aide for a student. They always say “Don’t forget who signs your checks” Like on some real mafia stuff. My response is “I thought I’m paid to service the community, not the systems pocketbook” 🤷‍♂️

@theDRAMAgoat1 Oh absolutely! You can change how many tosses a player gets, how far they have to toss, how many points if you make/miss a target etc

@Edu_Chaos What about game rules? Could you give an example for a bean bag toss game?

Hey so this is super specific but early childhood SPED people, what are some common IEP mods/accomodations for students for their music/PE classes? Specially with stimulation and movement.
