@Enloro @pcoffeebreak Usamos ángulos de polarización, pero los graficamos mediante gradientes de intensidad. Básicamente, usamos la imagen de las lineas a modo de máscara, por la que hacemos pasar la imagen de intensidad total. Es un poco lioso explicarlo en unos pocos tweets!😜

@imartividal @pcoffeebreak Usaron gradientes de intensidad? Interesante, tengo que ver el código. Normalmente se usan los ángulos de polarization que son los que dan la orientation del Bfield.

@Enloro @pcoffeebreak En este caso, las líneas se muestran como cambios de brillo (contraste) proporcionales a la intensidad de polarización. Eso nos permite añadir cortes al ruido (=lineas de contraste nulo). No sé si habrá versión de LIC que actúe de la misma manera. Lo desconozco.

@IBJIYONGI This work is focused on the physical properties of the dust grain sizes, alignment mechanisms, measurable polarization. Not much about the B-field, except that needs to be >uG (but we know that). Our other SALSA papers are more insightful about that topic.

New paper! Tram and I estimated the dust grain alignment mechanisms present in a galaxy using far-infrared polarimetric observations. Grains are aligned by B-fields, of course, and we now provide their size distributions. arxiv.org/abs/2402.18628
