When the trip makes it out of the group chat 😎 The starry spiral galaxy NGC 3137 travels through space as part of a galaxy group. Dubbed the "NGC 3175 group" after its largest member, this galaxy gang also contains several smaller dwarf galaxies: go.nasa.gov/4290aKZ

This striking new view of the Pinwheel Galaxy combines X-ray light from Chandra with other types of light from ground-based observations, @NASAHubble, and XMM-Newton. The galaxy is roughly 170,000 light-years across, making it about 70% larger than our own Milky Way Galaxy.🌀

Even the cosmos has a green thumb 💐 160,000 light-years away, 30 Doradus is in full bloom, displaying a stellar bouquet of thousands of stars. This image combines data from NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory, @NASAHubble, and the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array.

Another banner year! Today officially marks 36 years of Hubble. The mission is still going strong, with images and discoveries that constantly change the way we understand our universe. Here are just a few examples of what Hubble's been up to in the past year ⬇️

Celebrating 36 years of Hubble’s groundbreaking science! Since its launch into space on STS-31 on this day in 1990, the Hubble Space Telescope has made more than 1,700,000 observations. Despite a challenging start, it has become one of NASA’s most remarkable success stories.

NGC 4163 might look like a calm galaxy, but it played host to a "starburst" 200 million years ago. This period of fast and furious star-forming acted like a chain reaction. Pockets of star formation spread through the galaxy like a string of firecrackers: go.nasa.gov/4u4P2Lc

This isn't Hubble's first rodeo. The telescope also studied the Trifid Nebula back in 1997 with an earlier instrument. Hubble's latest view shows the expansion of a plasma jet periodically ejected by a developing star!
