About time
Marcel van Oost@oost_marcel

🚨𝘽𝙍𝙀𝘼𝙆𝙄𝙉𝙂: European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen unveiled EU–INC, a new framework that lets you launch a company in 48 hours for under €100 Starting a company across the EU today = 27 legal systems, 60+ company structures 🤯 That might be about to change… The European Commission just introduced 𝗘𝗨 𝗜𝗻𝗰., a new optional corporate framework designed to make Europe actually function like one market. Here’s what stands out: → Set up a company in 48 hours → Cost: < €100 → Fully online, no minimum capital → One single framework across all EU countries → Easier share transfers & fundraising → EU-wide employee stock options (huge for talent) Especially the EU-wide stock option plans, taxed only when employees actually sell (instead of when granted) is huge. This makes it far easier for startups to attract and retain top talent, finally putting Europe closer to the US playbook. Source/More info: ec.europa.eu/commission/pre… In short: This is Europe trying to compete with the simplicity of a Delaware C-Corp 🇺🇸 And honestly… it’s long overdue. For years, European founders had 2 choices: 1. Stay local and deal with fragmentation 2. Move to the US to scale 𝗘𝗨 𝗜𝗻𝗰. is trying to remove that trade-off. If executed well, this could be one of the most important structural changes for European startups in decades. What do you think?

Brilliant! For context, my current strategy is not competing with others in tech new news, but rather creating a new "tech product"/"software product" niche. Videos not for designers or for engineers, but with wide appeal (but still interesting for high value tech audience). My idea is not trying to compete on "tech video essays" (e.g. Leo Duff) but create something new

have watched a few of your vids, you’re great. here are my thoughts. 01 & 02. you have the formats already, you’re missing the timeliness of execution. see @leoduff" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">youtube.com/@leoduff you have a similar style but his videos are ideated surrounding relevant/trending topics > easier to ideate & more short-term reach. we’ve see YT lowering evergreen/old videos’ reach > better to focus on the 30-90 day potential now. regarding 03. hire a killer writer & give him equity.

First of all, it’s an amazing opening sequence (first few seconds). I have to give you credit for that. I also like that you instantly teach the viewer something new with the information you present. The aesthetic of the visuals throughout the intro is really beautiful and unique. The downside is that while you’re presenting this information, the music is very present, especially the percussion. It pulls attention away from what you’re saying. It would be better to limit the number of instruments so the focus stays on the narration instead of the music. (Stems) I also like that we connect with you fairly quickly. However, when you say that it’s a highly optimized piece of technology in the world, that line doesn’t really add anything new to the intro. At that point we’ve already set the tone and already taught the viewer something. What we should do next is explain the journey the viewer is about to go on. Right now we’re lingering on points that aren’t necessary for the intro, which results in about 15 seconds of content that doesn’t really move the video forward. Then you ask the viewer to imagine themselves doing something. That’s meant to resonate emotionally, but we’ve already set the tone and already created resonance. We’ve already provided value and hooked the viewer. Now we should move into the video. Another thing I noticed is that in the first 40 seconds the music doesn’t really change. It’s just there in the background and doesn’t react much to what you’re saying. There’s also a lack of sound effects. For example, when we see someone writing on the whiteboard, there’s no writing sound effect, even though that’s the visual we’re focused on. It ends up feeling like the video is trying to impress the audience for another 30 seconds after the intro has already done its job. I also noticed the use of a lot of complex words, even though this could easily be simplified for a wider audience. Then around one minute we finally start getting into the video. That’s simply too long for a YouTube audience. The intro should be shorter and more direct. The goal with an intro is that once you’ve already established something, you don’t repeat it. You move forward until you’re in the actual video and start delivering the content.

Let's do intro reviews! I’m a retention director who works with some of the biggest YouTube creators, many of whose videos get over 100M views each. For the next 24 hours, I’ll review as many intros as possible and give advice on what to improve.

If you start something small and stick with it long enough, it stops being small. A lot of this was built in public right here on this app. I’ve met so many friends, mentors, sponsors, and collaborators here - people who directly shaped this outcome. Grateful for all of you.
