@AviationStl American didn’t go far enough limiting the service to only Airbus primarily domestic routes. United went all in across the fleet giving them an advantage.

I feel like Delta is going to regret this. If nothing else than all the starlink ones can install now and Delta will be waiting 2 more years.

@ClayTravis @Starlink United made the right call here and Delta’s bet on Leo appears to be quite risky. I don’t think the service exists yet and Delta may not roll it out to the whole fleet.

I don’t understand why every airline in America — public and private — doesn’t have @Starlink. It’s incredible. You can make FaceTime calls with better reception anywhere in the world 35k feet up in air than most reception on ground. WiFi on planes is infuriatingly bad. Still.

Delta rejected adopting SpaceX's @Starlink on its fleet because it wanted to provide internet connectivity to passengers via the Delta Sync portal, instead of the Starlink-branded portal. Delta has since chosen to partner with Amazon's LEO. This will result in Delta falling behind many of its competitors in offering high-speed WiFi onboard, as many other carriers are already offering or installing Starlink, whereas Amazon's LEO airplane WiFi for Delta is still a couple year away (or more). Satellites currently in orbit: • SpaceX's Starlink: 10,400 • Amazon's LEO: 300 (Delta rejection info according to Ron Baron)
