A major incident has reportedly occurred at a Russian space launch facility/test range, where a strategic missile exploded during launch. According to reports, one of Russia's key missiles—preliminary information suggests it may have been the RS-28 Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile or the newer Oreshnik ballistic system—detonated directly at the moment of liftoff. Military analysts note that this is far from the first case in recent years of a Russian missile self-destructing or crashing shortly after launch.
