AI just made an Ip Man vs. Schwarzenegger in a few minutes. This looks so real. This would be impossible to happen without AI.

“So, let's get this straight. You changed the bidding rules on the first phase?” “Yes, because the contractor we wanted failed the technical score. Eliminated.” “And this contractor, his nickname is "The Change-Order Artist" ... he is, in fact, notorious for ripping off the state of California?” “Oh sure, it's a whole business model. Partners with Richard Blum for years. You know, Feinstein's husband.” “OK. So, there were experienced bidders who had actually built HSR, who had core competency and a delivery record.” “Sure. But Ron's a big donor, you see. He also took a bath buying Miramax, so it was a way for the party to funnel some money back to him. Aside from the film tax credits, obviously. Jerry Brown pulled some strings.” “And the change orders?” “Not even any documentation needed. They tried an audit back in 2018, they found change orders for tens of millions of dollars without documentation. Easy money. Now they're sealing the records.” “They're ... sealing the records?” “People are starting to ask too many questions now, the public get antsy once you get up to half a billion dollars in a single change order, so the IG is going to shield the records. It might "harm the state" if people see them, haha.”

In the appendix to The Lord of the Rings, Tolkien claims (jokingly) that the book is a translation into English of the Red Book of Westmarch written by Bilbo and Frodo, and that he had translated various names to sound more English. Frodo’s actual name is Maura Labingi.

I love LotR but sorry I don't wanna hear fans of a book that has "Mount Doom" and "Grima Wormtongue" talk about the naming conventions behind Duncan Idaho

@Awennon GW got burned long ago on making too many boxes for something, I believe it was The Hobbit. Now they make very aggressively conservative FOMO production runs. Everyone one who falls for FOMO and Scalpers snap up all the boxes in no time, it makes spread sheets look great.

@worp_bane @Balam_GF13 See, we needed a Navy 10 man infantry for Kill team kit that will rot in Imperial agents rules for the full game. Why use those resources on a classic Regiment? Why use that on a Regiment that we are planning on doing an invasion of their home planet.?

@Balam_GF13 They could have just fine kill teams for different residents and people would have been happy. Steel Legion, Tallern, Elysians, Vostroyan, the last goes on of a bunch of amazing regiments they found have made it's so insane.

@SandyofCthulhu I thought I read about how steam power wasn't really used was because metallurgy hadn't advanced far enough yet. You can't really make a powerful steam engine without the right materials.

@memeticsisyphus Read "The Sword and the Shield". The book is about the KGB records an Archivist smuggled out of Russia just after the Soviet union fell. The infiltration was significant.

I’m reading about the lend lease agreements between the U.S. and Soviets. We of course tanks, war planes, and small and large arms to fuel the red army, but these were understandable given the war aims against Hitler. Less understandable, we sent them entire factories with patents tools and raw materials. We sent them power plants, untold thousands of tons of food, industrial equipments like cranes, storage tanks, processed alloys, and countless stolen scientific and military papers. In one brazen incident we sent them the materials to build a nuke, including uranium and heavy water along with Manhattan engineering documents. Soviet military and scientific leaders were given full access to military and industrial sites, allowed to even openly video tape what they saw. No such reciprocal trips were granted to the Americans. All of this on the American tax payer’s dime. All of this against the general protest of American citizens and industry leaders. All because FDR and his top advisers inexplicably loved Stalin. A man who had invaded as many sovereign countries as Hitler and had committed more public atrocities at the time lease lend began. McCarthy was right, our government had been infiltrated by communist, actual soviet spies working in the expressed interest of the Soviet empire against the U.S. We fueled the Soviet domination of Europe and Asia for decades to come.

@kitten_beloved I'll give the answer I always give to these questions: "Because communists won WWII"
