Ten years is a long time to be “almost something.” She used to joke about it in the early days. “Maybe you’re just practicing to be a husband,” she would laugh, while he held her hand like he had already decided she was his forever. Back then, it felt sweet. Patient. Even safe. They met in their twenties. No money, big dreams, shared jollof rice at roadside spots and promises that didn’t need paperwork to feel real. Life was simple then. Love was louder than doubt. But time has a way of changing the sound of silence.

I stared at my phone at 2:17 in the morning, reading the same text over and over again while tears blurred the screen. “Since you’re my sister, I know you’ll understand.” That single sentence cost me our relationship. For almost a year, I had been helping her plan her wedding. Every weekend, every phone call, every emergency. I spent thousands of dollars I honestly couldn’t afford because I wanted her day to be perfect. I organized her.........

🧵 1/10 The Last Mango and the Boy Who Became Hope In the sweltering heat of a Lagos afternoon, where yellow buses roared through the streets like restless dragons and the air carried the taste of dust and diesel, twelve-year-old Chinedu sat on the cracked pavement outside Oyingbo Market with nothing but three overripe mangoes and a heart weighed down by worry. His mother lay sick at home. Those mangoes represented everything he had, the money for her medicine and their dinner. He had already sold two for barely enough to buy some garri. The last one he guarded like a treasure. That was what caught the stranger’s attention… Continued…👇

I love you,” she said. “But I don’t believe this is what you want anymore. I think you just finally did it because time ran out, not because you were ready.” Silence filled the room the way grief does quiet, complete, irreversible. He tried to speak, but nothing came out right. Ten years of love, excuses, delays, “soon,” and “let’s wait a bit” suddenly had no defense. She stood up, walked to the window, and looked outside like she was seeing her life for the first time without him in it. “I didn’t leave,” she added. “I just stopped arriving.” The ring stayed on the table between them, small, shiny, too late. And for the first time in a decade, neither of them knew how to fix what time had already decided. Was it still love… or just love that arrived too late to be trusted?

A ring. Not flashy. Not extravagant. But it was real. For a moment, everything froze. Ten years collapsed into that tiny circle of metal. She looked at it. Then at him. And she didn’t smile. He expected tears. Maybe laughter. Maybe relief. What he didn’t expect was calm. “No,” she said softly. He blinked. “No?” She nodded. Not out of anger. Not out of revenge. But something heavier.

By year three, friends started asking questions. By year five, her family stopped asking altogether. By year seven, she stopped wearing her imagination of a wedding dress in her head. And by year ten… she stopped waiting. That evening, he came home later than usual. Not unusual. Just different enough. He didn’t say much. Just sat beside her. Quiet. Nervous. Hands slightly shaking like he was holding something heavier than himself. Then he opened the small box. A ring.

Do ladies do “kiss and tell” too, or do they simply file the evidence and move on? 😂

@Her_Nonymous_D An intentional man there. Some men really understood the assignment. They know how every little care and kindness aid successful relationship. Real love is doesn't appear from the blues. It takes hard work and self presence.

I canceled a date yesterday evening because I just wasn’t feeling it. I had a long day, low energy, and zero social battery. I texted him politely, saying I needed to stay in and recharge. He replied with a simple “Got you.” Cool. End of story… I thought. Around 8 p.m., I heard a knock. Actually, it was more like a full-on delivery parade. First, a guy showed up with flowers. Then another with a paper bag from a pharmacy (basic self-care stuff I’d mentioned needing weeks ago and forgotten about). Then food from a small place near my office that I love but rarely visit. I stood at my door like I’d accidentally subscribed to premium life support. I finally called him like, “Why are there multiple people at my door?” And he’s like……..

@Jenna69302316 Have heard the story myself. But I give it to genetic factor Because they intermarried. And they aren't the only ones consuming yam and cassava and ewedu. So, gene is at work here

I once heard about a village in Yoruba land where twins are very common… like almost every family has them. At first, I thought it was just one of those stories people exaggerate online. But the place is actually real — Igbo-Ora in Oyo State. They are actually known as the “Land of Twins” or "The Twin Capital of the world" because twins are born there more than in most places in the world. Some people say it might be their food, especially yam. Others say it could be genetics. But one thing is clear… twins are very normal there. Imagine going to a village and seeing twins everywhere you turn. Have you heard this story before?
