it seems the end point of remake culture is to endlessly compromise the original games intent so that a wider net of people can "get into a series". what a ghoulish thought. video games really are just social activities now that function as vehicles to entering an online club

Yes, you could certainly work to make Sonic's character be even less interesting and the comic more boring, of that I have no doubt. Thankfully, SEGA didn't see it that way.

@HSonic94 @omomol_ As a level designer, I literally put sections like that in as the "this is when players get to kind of watch a rollercoaster and clap like seals." CD and 1 have certain bits like that, but 3&K and Mania are way more go through the motions type games.

@HSonic94 @omomol_ On a serious note, I do level design stuff and everytime I play Sonic games, I kind of just view them as blockouts. And everytime I play 3&K, I can just count the amount of times the game splits into hold forward speed section & slow level based platforming.

I'm gonna be real fr, I read through all of the current SoC that's released and I do not understand why people are glazing it so much over IDW. It's some of the most boring and formulaic stuff I've seen. Are fans really that allergic to Sonic having a personality?

anytime i read the IDW Sonic comics it fascinates me that these writers just fundamentally misunderstand Sonic as a character and write him as a stereotypical sarcastic superhero despite there also being a Sonic manga currently running that nails his character perfectly
