Top 4 in Modern NoBanList. I believe there are many things to improve in this deck, but I tried to target the metagame.

I really loved ECL limited. I think sealed was better than draft, but that sounds fairly normal for a tribal set with 5 ‘main’ archetypes by design. From my experience this is the best tribal set ever designed. I will give them a 8/10 grade for draft and 10/10 for sealed deck.

@Dr_Derael You’re totally free to take this opinion, you’re right that it’s technically in the rule book that this is what should happen. I would just argue that the rules are also meant to be contextualized and that this application feels unwelcoming and not worth the tradeoff

@FrowningTable Well, he was playing a game with an unfair advantage, even if that advantage wasn't created on purpose. Judges can't afford to be lenient in those kinds of situations, or it would create all sorts of problem, with people skirting the rules until they are caught.

The judges really going to issue this poor guy a game loss in r1 of the limited qualifier because he has a double face card in his non-opaque sleeves? Most sleeve brands have this issue and he obviously didn’t realize. They can’t tell him to change it before the next game?

@Dr_Derael This player was also so pissed off that he asked for a refund for the event so he could just leave, and they denied him that too! It just seems so maximally punishing and borderline arbitrary application. There is no chance he was the only person there with the wrong sleeve brand

@Dr_Derael I really disagree with this framing of it. It’s not as though it’s a well advertised fact that players need to check for opacity. He was stopped in the middle of his close game to just be issued a game loss. That doesn’t seem like a wise way to keep players coming back to Magic
