@AliGrids @zander_supafast Please, all designers, KEEP designing custom icons. KEEP experimenting. KEEP trying new things. Don’t listen to this drivel.

@Polymarket I can't wait for the day when this reads: Microsoft is offering "voluntary buybacks" to roughly 8,750 U.S. employees who were replaced by AI.

@markgurman @carlquintanilla What a dream run @tim_cook has had for @Apple. Now the massive task for Ternus ahead of him to lead Apple during a delusional administration, massive global uncertainty and a world wrestling with a new species, A.I.

More features don’t automatically mean better design; they mean more complexity, more failure points, more bulk. Think of dell for example, pure landfill. But moreso Apple chased a killer feature especially for creatives who need to scrub footage and design. If you don’t use the mouse for these you’ll probably never understand. a dual-mode mouse needs a port, a cable receptor, and structural compromises to accommodate both. That’s exactly the design bloat Apple was avoiding. “Give users everything” is product management, not design philosophy.
English

@FubarDaily @RealXavier011 Obviously a mouse with the ability to be used both ways, wired and wireless, is superior for functionality and user experience. Quite obviously. Anything that gives the user choice on how they use their tool which can change depending on their current need.
English

@BayaBailey @RealXavier011 Well. Magic Mouse charges fast enough that 2 minutes gives you ~9 hours of use. The “urgent send” scenario is really a planning failure, not a design failure. That’s a you problem
English

@FubarDaily @RealXavier011 Personally made me switch back to the battery-powered mouse cause I always had to find an alternative bluetooth mouse to keep work moving.
English

Apple’s retention of the design across multiple generations suggests the real-world complaint rate wasn’t commercially significant., so there’s that but also, a port cutout on the side would be visually disruptive in a way the bottom isn’t, since the bottom is never seen during use. This is the simplicity of apples design philosophy
English

@FubarDaily @RealXavier011 Wrong trade-off. They had the space on the side to place the charging port. The inconvenience was felt by more than 0.1%. This came at a time when Macs were the standard for heavy usage in the creative space. They are the ones who got aggrieve more than the casual mac user.
English

@MrFelted @RealXavier011 So you’re essentialky saying if functionality is paramount, a wired mouse with no battery is the logical conclusion. At some point aesthetics and user experience are part of functionality. 💀
English

@FubarDaily @RealXavier011 It's shit design. Even the side would be better than the bottom. Form over function is retarded for a tool like a mouse.
English

No my bro, It’s a tradeoff, not an oversight. Apple consciously prioritized the experience during the 99.9% of use over the inconvenience of the 0.1%. That’s a design decision, not a design flaw. the seamless, uninterrupted top surface is what makes the multi-touch gesture experience possible. You can’t have both without compromising one.
English

@FubarDaily @RealXavier011 Until you have something urgent to send and you have to wait for the mouse to charge. Good design that misses out on functionality, is poor design.
