Yesterday was the 2nd most active day of severe weather so far in 2026, containing a severe weather/tornado outbreak from the Southern Plains to the Great Lakes.
150 Tornado Warnings, and 319 Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were issued yesterday, with 25 tornado reports tallied so far. What a day...

Yeah… the Dwight/Seward, Nebraska LP supercell on 4/26/24 was otherwise unremarkable. No damaging wind. No hail. Warning was dropped.
I was about to leave and then saw the RFD cut and stuck around. It was bizarre to need sunglasses and be 500 feet from the tornado at times.

Still in awe of what happened yesterday. I’ve never had a tornado hit a house so close to me before. The thud it made and seeing the debris go flying around was something that’ll make anyone’s heart drop. Thankfully everyone was safe. Check out the full video below! @MesoMax919

With our latest severe weather sequence winding down, all eyes turn to the middle/late portion of this coming week. Models are progging a return to an active jet stream coinciding with the return of an expansive warm sector from the Gulf Coast to the Midwest. For now, SPC has only outlined severe probabilities across Oklahoma/Kansas on Thursday (April 23), but severe weather is possible over a multi-day stretch starting Wednesday and going through at least the weekend. I'll have more information, including forecast videos, as this stretch approaches.
