Film reviewer Jeremy Jahns on Alex Kurtzman's Star Trek: "To be fair it is difficult to find any modern sci-fi that wasn't influenced by Star Trek in some way. The one exception being modern Star Trek." Is he right?

@AuronMacintyre Neocons are also part of Trump's coalition that got him elected. PS. I'm not a fan of neocons just pointing out this fact.

Neocons own the intuitions, own the funding, direct foreign policy, and drove Trump into the most disastrous choice he has made since Covid If you think podcasts are the real problem you're retarded Plain and simple

It really is okay to dislike the way the people like Candice Owens or Ian Carroll conduct themselves but if you're so thick that you can't realize the neocons are a far more dangerous threat to MAGA and the country at large my respect for you is quickly dropping to zero
Cernovich@Cernovich

Neocons opposed Trump in 2016, only went along in 2020 as there wasn’t a primary, and then backed DeSantis in 2024. Losing the midterms means impeachment. Neocons are living their best life.

Just spent over $110 to fill up my gas tank. Took two separate sessions because Sam’s Club pumps stop at $100 and then you have to start all over again. But hey, at least we’re also mired in another Middle East war. Nothing better than Joe Biden’s inflation combined with George W. Bush’s foreign policy.

@ryangrim @Cernovich Tough for the workers of course. But unlike here in the USA where a bridge in Brooklyn will take years to build, the UAE can build everything back up under 6 months.

Any war should be of a great concern. So far Iran is not the same as it was 4 weeks ago. The surviving leadership are second rate and are divided. Their new Ayatollah is MIA. Their navy and air force are gone. Their missiles are barely making a dent in military terms. Meanwhile the USA lost lives, it's bases in the Gulf destroyed, the Strait is closed and oil prices are surging. I do not have blind faith in political leaders. I wish that war never happened. But since now we are in it, I am rooting for us to win with minimum causalities and maximum damage to the enemy. Let us pray that this happens. I bet you are praying for that also.

Some of us expressed great concern about the Iran War when it was first launched. We were shouted down and condemned as “panicans” and “blackpillers” and even Islamist sympathizers. But it’s pretty clear from how things have gone that our concerns were absolutely reasonable and legitimate. Maybe Trump will get us out of this thing soon and it still won’t spiral into a long and drawn out war. But even if that happens — and I’m not convinced it will — no thoughtful person can deny at this point that the spiral and long war scenario is very much a possibility. No reasonable person, at this stage, can say that our concerns were irrational. What looks irrational now — and always did — is the demand for blind allegiance and unthinking “trust” in our elected leaders, as though we are called to have faith in politicians like we have faith in God.

I’m pissed! Trump gave Iran a pause on strikes against their energy infrastructure until April 6. So what did Israel do?

They bombed all three of Iran’s largest steel plants simultaneously, which are crucial to their economy And if that wasn’t enough, they also struck Iran’s Khondab heavy-water reactor facility as well as uranium production and uranium-conversion sites All on the same day Why did Israel do this? And was it in coordination with the U.S.? If it’s in coordination, it means Trump lied to Iran. If not, than Israel is lying. If you take into account the report today that JD Vance yelled at Netanyahu over the phone this week, upset at being dragged into the war by misleading intelligence, then I think you have your answer Israel seems to be trying to sabotage these negotiations, and it serves their interests to do so.
Mario Nawfal@MarioNawfal

UPDATE: I’m really struggling to call what happens next On one hand, Trump needs an off-ramp to limit the global economic damage and growing domestic political pressure Iran would also like this war to end before more cities are leveled and more leaders are killed On the other hand, Iran is doing surprisingly well controlling the Strait, striking the Gulf and Israel, and selling oil for more than twice the price than before the war, making a killing And on the American side, troops are heading to the region for what increasingly looks like a ground operation to control Hormuz Negotiations are the most promising development since February 28th. But Iran's warnings to Gulf nations against supporting any ground operation, combined with maximalist demands from both sides, make a deal unlikely in the short term

Not sure I've seen a Party botch a shutdown quite like the R's here. D's not only escaped the public's wrath, due to R obsession w'SAVE Act and Trump focused on Iran, but, now, R dysfunction, unable to agree internally, gives D's more macro mo, when public already with them.

I feel the same. I am glad I voted for Trump. From day one I was in the opinion that if Trump gives us 25% of all his promises I would take the win. Trump 2.0 is far from perfect, I hate the war on Iran, but man still a big improvement of Biden and a Kamala presidency. shutting the border down is enough. A debatable point. If the United States was in an unavoidable collision course with Iran today or in the future, would it be better that the war happened under Trump vs a conventional President? Maybe, maybe not. Again a debatable point.

If Kamala Harris were in office, we wouldn't be at war in Iran but the border would be open, Elon would be in jail, X wouldn't exist, and there'd be a bipartisan amnesty. I have a lot of issues with the current administration. Everyone who is HONEST does. Real life isn't utopia.

The coalition was a political marvel to behold. But it was very fragile. In my opinion what united them was the terrible presidency of Joe Biden, the crazy Democratic policies, the bad economy, incompetent figures in power, the anti Trump lawfare, his attempted assassination , and most importantly Trump's promises to each group. The various parties of the coalition are in essence at odds with each other. Neocons, Tech bros, Libertarians, MAHA moms, old school liberals, RINOS, Latinos, Black men, young men, Muslims in MI, blue collar union workers, law enforcement, Independents, and of course MAGA. Now in power Trump fulfilled only some of his promises to each and every group while breaking many promises again to each and every group. Hence the fracture. Each wanted opposite things to each other. It was bound to break.

MAGA isn't dead but the coalition is. I'm not sure what the future holds because well, without the SAVE act, midterms could be rough so Trump has ALOT of ground to make up if it's even possible
