@NickyFrank30 The advantage of campaigning in Maine and not Kentucky is that Maine has a comparatively small population He's been apologizing and explaining his case in person in Maine. He'd fail in California, too big, but he's talking to a HIGH percentage of residents.

@Ericrse37986 People vote when they think their vote makes a difference. With how much we focus on the difference between parties I think a lot of young adults don't focus on differences within parties.

@nreal420 @Ericrse37986 You live in Paraguay. This is about our Very Uniquely American primary elections specifically, no other country picks the party nominees for the main election like we do! I feel like the unique element of our primary system might factor in when talking about primary votes?

@tomas_s242 This rocks. Last year Wisconsin Supreme Court was going to decide if Elon Musk could buy up any election he wanted to, he failed so badly that this is just a random election in a swing state decided by the wave (a blue one) We have hope, we've obliterated some of the worst.

@TimTakeMFT @admcrlsn Swing voters think both parties are the same. Both parties give them the same basic lecture so spare the lecture. Moderation is a *terrible* strategy to get swing voters because you're saying "I want to make both parties more like each other"; you *have* to stand out

@admcrlsn How do you think the Democratic Party should engage with these swing voters that usually don’t care about politics? What specific implications does it have for Democratic campaigns?

I need everyone with any modicum of influence in the Democratic Party or prominent progressive organization to drill this into their skull: “It's a DC myth that the swing voter is a hyper-engaged centrist that writes for the Washington Post. The average swing voter is very much a heterodox moderate — some far-right views, some far-left views. And they don't really care that much about politics. They don't trust people very much. They think that politicians are in it for themselves. And they generally vote for whoever makes the economy the best and whoever has the least chaos in their opinion. So that group overlaps a lot with young voters. It overlaps a lot with Hispanic voters. It overlaps a lot in general with the types of low-propensity voters that Donald Trump has gained a lot with. …[A lot of] these people don't care about politics when a presidential election is not on the ballot. They don't even know a special election is a thing. They barely know a midterm exists.”
Lakshya Jain@lxeagle17

One of the things making the Trump coalition notoriously prone to horrifyingly bad midterms: it consists of virtually everyone who doesn't care about politics. So it's not just a persuasion penalty they pay — the turnout one is worse too. (with @geoffreyvs + @ddhq podcast).

@admcrlsn There's this idea that Brian Fitzpatrick wins Bucks just by being a moderate when A. Being a Fitzpatrick in Bucks puts you in a political dynasty, and B. He puts in a lot of hard work where it's easy to see he's actually working for them (unlike other politicians).

@admcrlsn I grew up in that infamous Bucks County, PA. If you want swing voters from there: 1. They think both parties are the same. 2. Both parties scream at them how this isn't true and the other party is ruining everything 3. Be different! Stand out! Don't be a typical politician!

@bestpeterward @LinkofSunshine This was in a Zohran Mamdani ad early 2025; the process for food vendor licenses is so slow that people scalp them and sell them to people who actually want to be a vendor at a MASSIVE overcharge Zohran campaigned on cheeper street vendor by changing the license system

@LinkofSunshine It seems like specific vendors hoard licenses. Halal Pates, apart from driving down the sidewalk at Central Library and Brooklyn Museum, have >20 separate carts/food trucks. And often place several at one spot I guess to drive out competition. And they aren’t the biggest.

Let’s gooo The insane costs of running a food truck in NYC are ridiculous and inflate prices to hell. Hot dog cart licenses are routinely above $100,000 yearly

NEW: The Mamdani admin is going to announce the creation of an office for street vendors, which activist Carina Kaufman-Gutierrez will run. Carina told me weeks ago that this year is bringing the biggest changes for street vendors in NYC in 50 years. nytimes.com/2026/03/20/nyr…

@politicalmath I don't live in the Vegas metro area anymore, but you might want to check into Laughlin, NV (still in Clark County), I've heard good things as it is trying to set itself up as a cheaper Vegas alternative.

@SaraForTexLege I see Zohran Mamdani as the same type of politician Rob Sand running for Iowa, both running on exciting change (for their area) where if we stand together, we can actually create a better future.

There are policies that may work in NYC that don’t work everywhere. Every state/city/community has different needs. What Mamdani has reintroduced to America, is kindness. And that is desperately needed EVERYWHERE. Competence > chaos. Policy > corruption. Love > Hate.
MP Arizona☀️🏳️‍🌈💙🌵🐕🐕‍🦺🫂💦🏜🐟🌴🎙🌎🌻♍️🌊@AzPetrich

In case you missed it, Zohran Mamdani went to Rikers to observe Ramadan with the incarcerated who are often forgotten or neglected by elected officials. New York City elected the right man. ✅️

“Turn Based Combat was outdated” No it wasn’t. The people who said that weren’t playing Final Fantasy to begin with By that logic, Chess is outdated By that logic, Chess needs to evolve into a game where you throw the pieces at each other in real time
Blazer D@RickyBlazerD

Square by that time merged with Enix and decided to go on a new route and took out turned base combat because it was outdated and by that time turned based combat was losing popularity , FFXII may not be the best FF but it wasnt that bad either

The penalty for building up is the extra costs to build and *maintain* each floor, land developers will still hold out, waiting to figure out the right thing can be better, and a *lot* of the parking crater are other laws. If you're going to dedicate your life to this, study up.
urbanist slop hq@SlopHq

land value tax is the most elegant policy nobody talks about. tax the land, not the building. suddenly there’s no penalty for building up, no reward for sitting on an empty lot, and the parking crater becomes more expensive to maintain than the apartment building it’s been blocki

@LinkofSunshine One of his earliest campaign videos was promoting that he'd lower street vendor food by simplifying the process. Glad to see he's following through; a lot YIMBYs (not you, you voted for him, good job) were evidently terrified about this last year for some reason.

This was one of his more well known things he campaigned on early last year so give me this Oh my GAWD the evil SOCIALIST IS RUINING NEW YORK CITY you were WARNED that he'd make NYC suffer by making street vendors easier to operate, YOU IGNORED THE COMMUNISM WARNINGS!

Platner said a lot of BAD stuff but is traveling all over the comparatively unpopulated Maine to apologize for it and show he's changed The establishment is acting like an abuser that pretends women are safer with them despite the BS they JUST pulled trying to bring back Cuomo
Zaid Jilani@ZaidJilani

I gotta be honest especially after visiting Maine and talking to people I don’t see Janet Mills winning anything. Seems like both sides really don’t like her.
