It is ridiculous for CS Opiyo Wandayi to remain in office when his Principal Secretary has already resigned. After all, a fish rots from the head, not the tail.

IEBC Shocker: Electoral agency asks voters listed before 2012 to register afresh; chairman Ethekon says current list only covers post-2012 names and old ones who submitted biometrics.

🚩 Ni ukora... Only ~0.6% were manually verified in 2022, everyone else was digitally verified...

In 2012, IEBC conducted a fresh voter registration for all Kenyans, since it was the first time biometrics were used to register voters following the promulgation of the new constitution. It was during this mass voter registration that BVR kits were first used. In that case, EVERYONE who voted in 2013, 2017 and 2022 is definitely registered using biometrics. In this regard, IEBC chair Ethekon should avoid making statements intended to cause confusion, and instead clarify the following issue for us: ✅ Total number of verified voters nationally and per county ✅ The exact number of registered voters per county whose biometrics were not captured in 2012, and therefore have not had a chance to vote since 2013.

IEBC Shocker: Electoral agency asks voters listed before 2012 to register afresh; chairman Ethekon says current list only covers post-2012 names and old ones who submitted biometrics.

IEBC Chair Erastus Ethekon says voters who registered before 2012 must register again because their biometric data is missing. Let’s be honest for a second.... This issue has existed for YEARS. But it suddenly becomes urgent 12 months to an election? Why didn't they do this in 2023? So basically, you’re telling millions of Kenyans: “You’ve voted all these years.... but now start again or you won’t vote.” And they know in reality, many people will NOT re-register: - they’re busy - they’re far from registration centres - they’ll get frustrated with the process And that’s where the real problem is. Whether intentional or not... This creates a perfect setup to reduce turnout and even rig or manipulate elections. 📌 Article 38 - right to vote 📌 Article 81 - elections must be free, fair & inclusive So where exactly does this decision fit in? If this isn’t about influencing turnout, Why introduce it this late? Simple solution: Let them vote using existing records, then fix the system after 2027. Elections shouldn’t quietly lock people out.
