Part of me can’t wait for Trump to exit the national stage b/c I look forward to quasi-normalcy. The other part of me thinks, “I’ve seen a lot of peoples’ true selves. A complete unwillingness to be honest, the glee is being depraved. Quasi-normalcy will only be an illusion.”

Honestly I think this is a symptom of media fragmenting us into tribes. Republicans insulate themselves in a bubble where they are fed "Dems bad" outrage slop 24/7. During the pandemic, they didn't receive news organically, like how our ancestors did during the Spanish Flu. They didn't know how many people in their town died, like the guy that worked on their brakes or bagged their groceries. That's how normal human civilization works, creating a sense of community and empathy. Instead, they got a nonstop firehouse of rising grocery prices, vaccines cause autism, the Dems will make your kids pee in a litter box and wear a mask oh, and the masks also cause autism.

I genuinely thought that people would be more angry at Republicans for being so reckless and irresponsible, given that pretty much everyone had someone they know get sick and die. Instead, they just got really angry that they couldn't go to Applebee's for happy hour Dollaritas and their kids couldn't go to school and get everyone sick. And they blamed Democrats for it. That was pretty blackpilling on how dumb and selfish our country is. Any sort of collective empathy is just gone.
