Team Ninja has kind of lost me tbh. Last game of theirs I truly loved is SOP. But, they’ve spun so far into soulslike land that they’ve forgotten how to get out.
They’ve been making variations of the same game for almost a decade. Wo Long 2 doesn’t exactly thrill me.

they still make decent games. i do criticize the way they do loot in their action-rpg titles but Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, and Stranger of Paradise are awesome. that being said, old Team Ninja is still goated and much better because of Ninja Gaiden

@dualmoonblade i'd say Resonance of Fate. a lot of people hate FFXV, and it's def the weakest on the list otherwisebut i think it's very much worth a play. i liked it a lot

My FAVORITE genre is RPGs,,, i love all forms of them! They have some of the most unique art, aestetic, stories, and gameplay I've ever experienced! Ironic since I used to hate them when I was younger pfft,, whats urs?

@ShinkyJRPGs A shame the second half is the way it is. Apparently, it had to do with Square insisting all games have a development period of two years max and it was a compromise to avoid ending on a cliffhanger.

And with that I have finished #Xenogears.
I have seen the promised land, it started out a bit slow but it’s ended up becoming possibly one of the best stories in any JRPG I’ve ever played.

@ShinkyJRPGs i wanna finish it so bad but i ran into gamebreaking emulation issues when i last tried, and i really hate the thought of putting another 60 hours in for the same result. i was like halfway through disc 2, too

You'll notice that not a single combo is ever used. It's all special moves one after the other in rapid succession.

The Norse saga combat is so much better than the Greek games I'm shocked it's even debate material. The gameplay to cutscenes ratio is also overwhelmingly in favor of the last two games yet it's them that get labeled "movies".

WRONG. I see none of that here. Mid-air attacks ≠ Greek DNA. There's a crucial aspect that's missing & it's why GoW: Laufey's aerial combat looks so BORING and WEIGHTLESS: Gravity. Without gravity, aerial decision-making vanishes and without proper challenge, it's BORING as fuck

If Breath of the Wild had just been its own thing instead of getting milked for the next ten years, then it would have had an immaculate reputation amongst most Zelda fans. It's amazing how much just one bad sequel can tarnish a game's whole legacy.

My most unpopular take is probably that I see 0 reason to buy physical games for anything 3DS/PS4/XBone onwards aside from if you wanted to sell it in the future to some other schmuck
