Track & Field (1983) by Konami turned arcade controls into a full workout, with players hammering buttons at absurd speed to sprint, jump, and throw for gold. It was one of the original party games in arcades, often drawing crowds just to watch people destroy their fingers.

To add further, the racial harassment has not stopped. From my perspective, it seems to come from the same small group of individuals who appear deeply obsessed with targeting me, and who spend an unhealthy amount of time harassing not just me, but also my friends and family. Many people in the scene will likely know who I’m referring to, and there have been numerous alt accounts created that appear to exist purely for this kind of behaviour. At times, it feels as though my ethnicity is something they use as a weapon against me, as if they see people like me as lesser because of their own elitist mindset. The truth is, I have absolutely no issue with who I am. I’m proud of who I am, comfortable in my own skin, and happy with my identity. If anything, this kind of behaviour says far more about their insecurities than it ever could about me. What’s also worth saying is that this hasn’t just affected me. Many people across the wider scene have had run-ins with this same group over the years, and time and time again, they seem to be the common denominator whenever drama and harassment arise. On a lighter note, for any visual artists out there: I actually like the overall look of the logo. If someone could remove the knife from my head and maybe swap the naan bread for a couple of cherries, I’d genuinely consider using it for the channel.

Dear friends, I genuinely thought racism had come to an end within the retro and FPGA gaming scene. I’ve been covering retro and FPGA gaming on YouTube for almost five years now, and for the most part, the community has been welcoming and passionate. But unfortunately, there are still people deeply invested in hate. Growing up in London during the 1980s and 1990s, I experienced a lot of racism as a kid. Thankfully, things improved massively after around 1995, and over time society became far more accepting and multicultural. That’s partly why it has been disappointing to still come across this kind of behaviour within parts of the retro gaming scene in 2026. When I first started my YouTube journey, a group of developers approached me and shared their early work with me. It was genuinely exciting being part of that early creative energy. They would even ask me to showcase videos on my channel, which I was always happy to support. However, once they discovered my ethnicity, I noticed a very different attitude towards me. At first, I convinced myself I was imagining it, but over the years the behaviour became harder and harder to ignore. I’ve watched this particular group grow increasingly hostile towards certain ethnicities, to the point where they even named software after a well known white supremacist group. They also repeatedly highlighted the ethnic backgrounds of people they disliked, purely to reinforce division and hatred. The retro gaming scene is supposed to be about shared nostalgia, preserving gaming history, creativity, and bringing people together through a common passion. The vast majority of people in this community are good people, which is why it’s so sad that these kinds of groups still exist within our hobby. I know I won’t be the only person who has experienced this kind of behaviour in gaming communities over the years. If you’ve been a victim of it too, then I’m here for you, whoever you are.

@PixelCNinja Just mute them and move on. Or block them. Don’t give them the satisfaction.

Arcade attract screens did more marketing than entire modern game campaigns. You saw 10 seconds and instantly needed to play.

Splatterhouse (1988) by Namco shocked arcades with gore, body horror, and horror movie-inspired monsters at a time when most games stayed family-friendly. Beneath the blood, it’s a brutally tough brawler with one of the most memorable atmospheres of its era.

Nothing felt more next-gen than seeing Ridge Racer running on a PS1 for the first time. That transition from 2D to 3D was magical. What early 3D game made your jaw drop? #PS1 #PlayStation

Bubble Bobble (1986) by Taito looks cute, but its enemy patterns, secret endings, and co-op teamwork gave it surprising depth. The fact you need two players to see the true ending made it one of the sneakiest arcade twists of the 80s.

Dear friends, and especially those new to content creation, For the most part, creating content about something you love is a real blessing. It can be an escape from the day-to-day struggles of life, and when it comes to live streaming, it often feels like simply hanging out with like-minded friends. But there is a side of content creation that people don’t always talk about. Alongside the amazing people you’ll meet, there can also be deeply unhinged individuals whose only goal seems to be spreading hate. Thankfully, platforms do provide tools that stop a lot of that from ever reaching you. What you may not expect, however, is that sometimes entire communities can form around trying to make creators’ lives difficult, digging into personal lives, targeting family members, spreading harassment, and obsessing over people they claim not to care about. You need to be prepared for that possibility. I’m not a huge channel by any means, but even with my growth, I’ve come across some genuinely disturbing behaviour from people who seem to exist purely to hate. And this isn’t something limited to me. Many people across the wider MiSTer scene, creators, developers, and community members alike, have experienced similar negativity over the years. What’s especially frustrating is that those same people will often cry harassment, while actively engaging in it themselves. I’m sharing this because I think new creators deserve to know that while content creation can be incredibly rewarding, it can also attract some very unhealthy behaviour from a small minority. The image I’ve attached is just one small example of the kind of negativity that exists. Thankfully, the vast majority of people in gaming communities are good people, and that’s what makes this worth doing. To anyone starting out: enjoy creating, protect your peace, use the tools available, and don’t let a few obsessed individuals ruin something you love. Btw, if you're not familiar with my work I focus more on FPGA gaming news, but cover pretty much anything cool within retro.
