@bencsmoke Not sure it is £30bn in just the UK, but ii id £30bn in pre-tax profits .. the current additional corporation tax and windfall levy means the government get 78% of that. £6.6bn to energy companies .. £23.4bn to government.

novel idea but why don’t the energy providers (who made estimated £30 billion in profit in 2024) take the hit on increase costs instead of consumers who have already been squeezed dry?

Thank you for all your kind words as I step down from #HouseOfGames after 9 amazing years. It is honestly the most fun show to work on, with the most wonderful team, but, after 800 episodes it's time to hand over the keys to a new host. There are plenty of new episodes still to air though, and I'll even be filming one final handover week later in the year! It really has been a treat from start to finish.

Heat pumps are the most efficient heating technology ever invented. They harvest and compress pre existing heat in the air, ground or water and transport it where it is needed. That energy is all around us. And it does not have to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

He tried to explain he'd been at his desk since 7. I interrupted and told him accuracy matters more than intent. I emailed his reviewer suggesting he take a CLE on time management. He apologized later. I didn't reply. I forwarded the apology to HR as proof of his inefficiency. Greetings are risky. He learned an important lesson. Never speak to a partner in the elevator. JUST WONDERING HOW MOMS are supposed to work 9-5, drop the kids off at school at 8 AM, pick them up by 3 PM, stay on top of school activities, meal prep, cook dinner, keep the house clean, do the laundry, run the kids to extracurricular activities, climb the corporate ladder, save sick days for when the kids are sick, be a good friend, daughter, and partner, all while trying to take care of their own body and mental health…

@higgyboson Just one problem with your scenario, north sea oil is not the best type of oil for petrol, so watch the prices go up.

The supply of oil will be severely affected by the current situation in the Middle East. We are so lucky in this country to have an abundant supply of this commodity constantly on tap from our own North Sea reserves. It's just a matter of sheer luck that we're sat next to literally billions of barrels of oil providing us with energy security for decades. Now, just imagine if a government decided not to utilise this bounty and instead decided to completely ignore it's existence in favour of relying on other countries to supply it to us at greatly inflated prices. That would be insane.
