@brookepintodc I j responded to two incidents in Ft Staton on Saturday & Sunday near the recreation center in Ward 8 SE. How would had the curfew zone prevented these incidents ? It wasn’t at Navy Yard, Gallery Place or any business area. It was by the Rec. We need resources & real solutions.

We have a responsibility to invest in our young people and create opportunities for them to thrive. We also need common-sense, narrowly tailored tools to keep kids and communities safe. The juvenile curfew legislation allows temporary earlier curfew zones only in limited situations where there are credible concerns about potential violence involving large groups of youth. We can support our young people and prevent violence at the same time - and I’ll keep fighting for policies that do both. And we must handle our business locally. When we fail to act, we invite federal interference in our city. I wish that Robert White understood that, but instead he continues to vote down the juvenile curfew and make our city vulnerable to a federal government who is not best equipped to work on what should be handled locally.

I am voting for McDuffie because I think blue cities need to be governed well, JLG's policies will more likely than McDuffie's raise crime, and Trump would weaponize that against Dems everywhere. My fellow DCers, don't sleepwalk into this

@cukashawty @FBIWFO @DCPoliceDept I’m not sure, just like people not sure what happened at the Chipotle. Hopefully the FBI will get to the bottom of BOTH situations . Clearly an employee was severely injured after a National Baseball game the same day.

We need to have a serious discussion about how to fix these teen takeovers. Nearly EVERY time, the crowd is OVERWHELMINGLY Black, but we are not allowed to notice that because that's racist... ...so how do we fix this? Seriously, what is the ACTUAL solution here???

@7NewsDC Can you all interview Problem Child to see if their employee is ok. This happened at the Navy Yard the same day. Maybe the city should consider a curfew for the whole Navy Yard , especially on game days.

7News spoke with that man Monday; his name is Rafael Jauregui and he said he had taken his seven kids to the Nationals-Orioles game Saturday, then bought them dinner at the Chipotle. The five youngest kids, ranging in age from a four-year-old girl to a 14-year old boy, were with Rafael in the restaurant when he says a fight broke out. Jauregui said he and the kids were backed into a corner. “My son said on the way home, 'Papa, I can’t unsee that,'" he said. MORE: bit.ly/4tIGl8M

Janeese Lewis George still calls Trayon White her mentor after he was indicted on federal bribery charges. That tells voters everything they need to know about her judgment, her morals, and her values. The culture of corruption needs to end. I got into this race to end the rampant waste, fraud, and abuse in DC government. Join us at riniformayor.com.

💥 BOOM- well said! Thank you for standing up for communities like Navy Yard and speaking out about the crime and chaos residents, and businesses are dealing with every day. We need leadership that prioritizes public safety, accountability, and protecting families, visitors and businesses. Enough is enough! @USAttyPirro #NavyYard

These teen takeovers are violent, dangerous, and illegal. It is going to stop. We are looking beyond those individuals who are committing the crimes and we are looking at the parents to make sure that they understand that they are responsible for the upheaval that is going on in the District.

@kenyanmcduffie You also know that DPR budget was cut and they don’t have enough staff to extend the recreation hours . Feel good about white Supremcist s are attacking our children when you know that over 90% of our youth do not engage in this kind of behavior. DC youth don’t deserve this 😔

Accountability and opportunity must go hand in hand. Janeese Lewis George voted against giving DC a curfew tool to respond to youth gatherings that have, at times, erupted into violence. And when the Council had the opportunity to extend rec center hours, she shut it down, choosing politics over our youth. As Mayor, I won’t tolerate this kind of disorder, and I’ll make sure our young people have safe, constructive places to go.

@kenyanmcduffie It’s so disheartening that you using our youth for your political gain 😔. You know this incident didn’t happen during the curfew time and a curfew wouldn’t had prevented this incidents. Look at the comments and know this is on you on how our youth in DC is being viewed sigh.

@wolflovesmelon you have educated the masses. Your direct action was heroic. U.S. is complicit with committing genocide. Please be safe coming down & know you have a community that rise up in solidarity with you ✊🏾. STOP WARS STOP AI DC STATEHOOD END THE OCCUPATION FREE DC

At the same time that the war against Iran is ongoing and must be stopped, DC itself is under military occupation by National Guard since August 2025 and Trump has stated they will not leave until 2029. They have created a "safe and beautiful taskforce" with all the Federal law enforcement agencies that is terrorizing local Black communities. Where local police should be responding to the needs of the community, these Federal agents have subjected the people to abuse and violence, including the recent killing of Julian Bailey by US Marshalls. This state of siege is made possible because DC has been denied statehood and the rightful authority to govern its own affairs, we must change this- FREE DC! I had some great conversations with two amazing local community members here in DC, NeeNee @neeneetay and Melani @MelaniNDouglass , that have caused me to reflect on my work here and the ways that I can be of service in strengthening the connections between this struggle and the concerns and struggles facing the local communities in Washington DC. My efforts here have had impacts on the local community and its people, and it is my desire not to harm but to work in communication, to lift up and to contribute what strength I can to the ongoing struggle for rights and freedom which this community has been engaged in for years. I will be engaging continuously on these issues going forward and encourage others like myself who have not yet done so to work to connect to and advance their struggles in common along with the communities in which they are taking place.

Hi it's Guido! I'm still here on the bridge. My water ran out Sunday & I'm heading down in the morning. I'll probably be going to jail for a while when I get down. I'll be handing off this account and hopefully we can stay in touch. I hope that this action has offered something to motivate and inspire you, and that it can serve as fuel for greater commitment and action in the cause of peace and in the fight for our future. End the Wars! Stop AI! Free DC! See you soon! Bella Ciao!

I will soon be leaving the bridge. I want to give heartfelt thanks for all the outpouring of support. My purpose here has been to fulfill my duty to the truth- to call on the people of this country to recognize and exercise the revolutionary power within us- the power of collective nonviolent action and non-cooperation with evil- by which we can bring an end to these hateful wars and the murders committed in our names. It is only with the passive compliance of millions- our obedience- our willingness to continue to do what's expected of us: to go to work, to school, to pay our rents, our mortgages and our taxes, that the Trump regime can remain in power and these wars continue. One man on a bridge is relatively powerless, but the collective withdrawal of our obedience and support is capable of bringing a swift end to the regime and its wars. This nonviolent collective action is our greatest power and it is the exercise of this power that those who rule fear more than any weapon. For the sake of the world, its children, and our future let us build this power with each other, together.
