If you pay taxes to a government murdering children in an illegal war, you are voluntarily materially supporting those actions and so you are also complicit in them. You could refuse to allow your money to be used to murder children. It might come with some material cost, but there was never any guarantee that refusing to cooperate with evil would be free or easy. We have the options of refusing to materially support or cooperate with such a governnent, nonviolently resisting and obstructing it, and nonviolently ending its rule. To the extent we don’t, we are complicit.
