Also went to the Oklahoma Salt Plains to dig for hourglass selenite crystals. I had a great time and I found some good ones. Highly recommend checking it out if you're ever in northwest Oklahoma!

Went to Gloss Mountain State Park yesterday. Proof Oklahoma isn't entirely flat!

@GrapeApe9k @joinindustrion Pay is a big one here. I worked as a machinist my senior year of vo-tech highschool and was paid $4/hr less than my friends who worked at McDonald's at the time. Still my lowest paying job to date, and I've worked a few bottom of the barrel entry level unskilled jobs since then

- Middle-class wages. And not "middle-class when the owner was middle-class, 40 years ago". Look at local mortgage prices and what would be needed to afford them. - Training/apprenticeships. You cannot expect applicants to have 15 years experience in the specific software and machine tools you use. - Headhunt kids from local high schools. Identify competent, responsible kids and have them on track for an apprenticeship as soon as they graduate.

Left my camera in my pocket and it shrunk in the wash... Got a new camera today, it's a Pentax Auto 110 (smallest SLR camera in the world). The lenses are tiny!

Going to be picking tiny, almost microscopic spines out of my hands for the next year now... I guess that's why they call them *prickly* pears (One of the spines can be seen here on the tip of a pair of tweezers from a Swiss army knife)

Made some cactus fruit juice from some wild prickly pear cactus!

Came with a yellow filter too, in case I want my pictures to look like Mexico in Breaking Bad

Have been wanting to try out film photography for a while. Only experience I have with film are disposable cameras and the few pictures I took on my parents' point and shoot film camera as a kid in the early 2000s. Excited to try it out, and probably waste a lot of film learning

Got a new camera!. It's neat seeing how they got so many of the features I'm familiar with on my modern camera to work while requiring no batteries. The shutter timer on slow shutter settings sounds like a wind up toy. Equally impressive, everything still works after 50+ years

Ice was pretty rough, and very thin. Will definitely need to have them resharpened from the few times I caught dry patches of concrete, but all things considered, not too bad.

Not something you get to do in Texas very often (although this is the 3rd winter in a row we've gotten snow)
