With cross-party parliamentary support, a @metpoliceuk investigation, and meeting @Keir_Starmer soon- #J4FHS's message to every institution & every enabler who looked the other way is the same regardless of politics: we are coming for the truth, and we won't stop until we get it.

Survivors of abuse at the hands of Mohamed Al-Fayed have criticised the decision to close the Harrods compensation scheme to new applicants. Al-Fayed, who died in 2023, owned Harrods for 25 years and is suspected of having raped or sexually abused hundreds of women. Survivors says the compensation scheme should remain open to new applicants until a Met police investigation into Al-Fayed's alleged abuse, and Harrods own internal inquiry into what happened, have concluded. Where @Harrods bosses from Fayed era run 💰 scheme for MAF’s abuse while 🕵️‍♀️ themselves over their 🧠 of said abuse while pledging not to tell survivors what they find despite dropping their Fayed-era HR director on the QT as part of investigation. ❌ itv.com/watch/news/abu…

It is imperative that the Metropolitan Police completes its inquiries and submits charges to the Crown Prosecution Service in the immediate future. In the meantime Harrods’ reputation remains tarnished - but then of course nobody is compelled to shop there! 3/3

The survivors of Fayed’s crimes are not for sale. There are those now in receipt of handsome pensions or pay-offs who were complicit and who aided and abetted Fayed’s abuse and who can and must be brought to trial. 2/3

It is shameful that Harrods of Knightsbridge, the ‘upmarket’ department store, should have terminated its compensation scheme after just one year for those employees and others who suffered rape and sexual assault at the hands of the shop’s late proprietor Mohamed Fayed. 1/3

Yesterday, survivors of Mohamed Fayed gathered outside #Harrods - many for the first time since their abuse - as the store's deplorable self-run compensation scheme closed its doors. Just in time for the end of the tax year.... 🤔 Harrods shut this scheme down without publishing the results of its own three-year so-called independent internal investigation into what current staff knew about Fayed's crimes. It has confirmed that the investigation led to at least one senior figure leaving the business - Sarah Andrews, the former Head of HR and Retail - who had been with Harrods for over two decades. As @Bloomberg's @GriffithsKath_ reported, this executive was made aware of abuse as far back as 2009 and - aside from suppressing it - took no meaningful action. Yet Harrods will not explain the circumstances of her departure, will not say what its investigation found, and has confirmed the findings will remain legally privileged and will never be shared with survivors or the public. Meanwhile, Managing Director Michael Ward - appointed by Fayed in 2006 and still in post TODAY - claims he knew nothing. A SIX-FIGURE payment was made to a survivor through Harrods' own payroll system in 2009. Survivors contacted senior management directly in 2018 with detailed accounts of abuse, only to be dismissed. The suggestion that nobody at senior level was aware is simply not credible - and the refusal to address it is yet a further example of the arrogance this institution believes is its right. The question Harrods continues to refuse to answer is one that deeply matters: What did your current senior management know about Fayed's abuse, and when did they know it? Until that question is answered publicly, nothing Harrods says about accountability can be taken at face value. Of course, I can answer that for them - and will be doing so. Yesterday also marked something far more significant than the closing of Harrods' scheme. It marked the public launch of 'Justice for Fayed and Harrods Survivors' - @J4FHS - a campaign group standing with over 400 women who are now demanding answers. The women of J4FHS will NOT allow Harrods to mark its own homework. They are demanding independent, transparent, survivor-led accountability - and they have a meeting with the @Keir_Starmer in the coming weeks to make exactly that case. Four individuals have now been questioned by the @metpoliceuk on suspicion of aiding and abetting r4pe, s3xual assault and human trafficking. An All-Party Parliamentary Group has been established in Parliament, led by @DaveR_Lichfield, @wendychambLD, @Katie_Lam_MP and @S_A_Russell. And over 400 women are no longer waiting for permission to be heard. FIFTY survivors have shared their own words on the J4FHS website - and they represent just a fraction of those standing behind this campaign. Harrods would like this chapter to close quietly. J4FHS can assure them directly: It won't. #HarrodsAbuse #AlFayed #J4FHS #JusticeForFayedAndHarrodsSurvivors #Harrods #HarrodsLies harrodssurvivors.org
