White teenagers in Florida left their Black friend Marquise to drown in a river while taunting him with slurs and monkey noises from the shore. Marquise couldn’t swim well and was wearing an ill-fitting child-sized life jacket. A kayaking family rescued him as he feared for his life. He said his “friends” expected him to swim back alone.
