Education debates keep asking: Which program works best? But classrooms aren’t laboratories. They’re ecosystems. And ecosystems don’t follow scripts.

@gaffney_kristen I should say kids need engagement. They need motivation to read. When reading is nothing more than taking tests and answer questions to boring passages it’s no wonder we see stalled scores (not saying motivation is the only piece to the puzzle. But it’s an important piece)

How often have we asked kids to: Think Pair Share Collaborate Discuss Or anything requiring communication... Without explicitly teaching them HOW to do this things in the first place? We need to model, provide visible cues & expectations, & reteach at times. We can't assume.
