IMHO we have to stop treating platform co-ops as an ideological experiment and start building robust cooperative businesses with a strong focus on revenue growth. These a lot of complexity but we CAN do this.

Tough pill to swallow: nearly every platform cooperative is a commercial failure. They have more value in expanding imagination for what our online economy *could* look like. I don’t want collective ownership to be cute though. I want to win.

Among the casualties of the SVB disaster is the Bay non-profit ecosystem. SO many Bay Area rich folks gave to DAF’s and not directly to non-profits. Those disbursements were the life’s blood of many places. If the Fed is only going to cover $250k, lots of NPO/NGO closures coming.

DAOs should think more like institutions than companies. Institutions do a thing and do it forever Companies do a thing and extract value for shareholders. Institutions provide a service, and can be profitable but their goal is to be around forever and not cash out.
