Conversation!) My recommendation would be then to get a headstart on that course, prove that when given a setback, you make use of it in practical, useful ways. Apply for summer internships for example!

The problem is that Bath deferred her place due to the A level debacle. It has completely knocked her confidence - she spent 5 years in and out of hospital to get this far.

There are thousands of young people being forced to take a gap year through no fault of their own. However jolly your gap year, I suspect it wasn’t during a global pandemic when there are no jobs and very few opportunities to travel. Are they seriously just going to be abandoned?

Get experience, whether that's in an apprenticeship or work experience situation, or at home as it was in my case, building and learning, exploring in your own time! That's what unis love!

And, don't ever neglect the maths 😉
