The reporting period highlights devastating conflict impacts, particularly on vulnerable groups such as young children. Fatalities and injuries were recorded from both violent incidents and flooding, alongside disturbing SGBV cases involving child abduction and murder in Kisauni and an assault in Likoni, which has heightened fear and insecurity within communities. Overall, more than 5 million residents remain exposed to overlapping risks driven by insecurity, environmental stress, and social fragmentation. These trends suggest that localized incidents are increasingly interconnected, creating conditions that may escalate into broader instability and heightened vulnerability to violent extremism if not addressed through coordinated and timely interventions. @theGCERF @tendasasa @IPOA_KE @NSCpeace @NPSOfficial_KE

KECOSCE recorded 19 early warning reports this week, reflecting a moderate-to-high threat environment across Kenya's coastal region. The data highlights a convergence of risks, including crime and violent incidents, climate-induced and resource-based conflicts affecting over 2,000 families, and rising identity-based political tensions linked to shifting alliances and grassroots mobilization. Additional alerts on radicalization risks, particularly in the context of alleged excessive use of force, point to growing concerns around governance gaps and community–state relations. @theGCERF @tendasasa @IPOA_KE @NSCpeace @NPSOfficial_KE To learn more, see the report here. kecosce.org/weekly-conflic… #EWER

world water day to be marked on 22nd March, 2026. As we approach this important day whose theme is WATER AND GENDER, we reflect on Thousands of people without water and sanitation services that pushes women and girls to bear the burden of fetching water for domestic use. the number of hours spent is never part of the data on women's role in water and sanitation space. The inclusion of women in water decision making spaces, etc @KECOSCE convene a webinar on Monday 23rd to dive deep into the Water and Gender issue with a focus to Mombasa County. @wasreb @mowasco @coastwaterke @MombasaWater @mombasawaterkoa @CoastRights @AbukaAlfred @Phyllis_Muema @NGECKenya

Commendable work by KECOSCE with support from GCERF through Tenda Sasa—strengthening community resilience by empowering women, youth & leaders to counter violent extremism in Tarasaa. @KECOSCE
KECOSCE@KECOSCE

KECOSCE with support from @theGCERF through @tendasasa convened a village-level PCVE community forum in Tarasaa sub county in @Tanariver004 , bringing together women, youth, and local leaders to counter violent extremism through a human rights–based, gender-inclusive approach. Participants were sensitized on PCVE dynamics, indicators of violent extremism, and how to break the cycle of radicalization through collaboration, digital early warning, and information sharing. Together, key drivers increasing vulnerability in Tarasaa were identified, and three high-risk villages were selected as model resilience (Jasiri) villages for sustained monitoring and support. #PCVE #CommunityResilience #JasiriVillages #KEWER #WomenPeaceSecurity #YouthInPeacePeace
