On 2 November last year, Rishi Sunak as PM interviewed Elon Musk at Lancaster House. I was there. It was quite the love in. Today Elon Musk is making the divisive and inflammatory charge that the British police come down heavy on white thugs but give a green light to alleged Muslim ones, and he is endorsing for his almost 200m followers other claims that seek to sow animosity between communities, such as that the courts and authorities are somehow soft on Muslim criminals. Here is what may or may not elude Musk. The election was barely a month ago, and if there is “two-tier policing” today then there would have been on Sunak’s watch too. Since Sunak presumably believes the police and courts were and are even handed in their treatment of different ethnicities and religions, shouldn’t Sunak say something to Musk?

@davesumnersmith Check your history - violence, alas, is an ever present feature of human behaviour

@KneeRob Possibly so, but I've yet to see any evidence that he has any positive qualities whatsoever as my member of parliament. It will be interesting to see whether, over the coming months and years, I have reason to revise this view.

@BethRigby Probably a good time to stop trying to score points and let the PM get on and be judged by his actions and not his or your words

WATCH: Bit of back and forth here on PM Starmer's insistence he is committed to spending 2.5% of GDP on defence with no timeline. Is it his ambition to hit it by the end of the parliament. He won't commit. Why won't he put his money where his mouth is? 👇

@ItsTaz1989 He didn’t say that. He said he expected them to address him as Prime Minister as is the convention

@ACarpenDigital @maitlis Heavy dose of realism at the challenges ahead but maybe helpful to have low expectations

@Simon4NDorset Disappointing that you believe in the figures and that your hypocrisy blinds you to your own record of tax rises.

Some very interesting, encouraging and I believe to be accurate headlines.
