BHS HOCKEY CLASS A BREAKING NEWS Hearing that Shattuck-Saint Mary's will, for the 1st time since 1992, be fielding a Boys Hockey team in the MSHSL. Due to it being the 2nd year of the section cycle, they will not be allowed to opt up and will be placed in Section 1A next year!

A dumpling shop in DC just raised $7.2M. That's not the story. Chef Tim Ma started Laoban because the frozen dumpling aisle was broken. Commodity products. Cheap packaging. Nothing that reflected what dumplings actually are, one of the most beloved foods on earth, eaten across every culture, every income bracket, for thousands of years. He built the restaurant first. Then brought the recipes to retail. Now in 6,000 stores. Whole Foods. Kroger. Costco. Walmart. A 3-pound pack at Costco for $12.99. A single-serve at Walmart for $4.99. Different SKU, different price point, same brand. That's a CPG operator thinking in systems. Last month Bachan's sold to Marzetti for $400M; 4-5x revenue. The signal: Asian pantry brands have moved from ethnic niche to core grocery infrastructure. Laoban is the next name on that list. The $7.2M round is small. The category is not. Frozen dumplings in the US are where Japanese whisky was fifteen years ago. Genuinely world-class product. Chronically underpriced. Waiting for the right brand to reframe what it's worth. Laoban is making that argument.
