@jen_spisak A3: I follow authors, book companies, schools, libraries. In all of these, trends will emerge. It’s also a great place to post your own school library happenings. The more librarians that do this, the more trends you can see across the board. #luslib600

Q3: How can you use Twitter to keep up with Emerging Trends in Children’s and YA Lit? #LUSLIB600

@jen_hamlett77 I agree with this. It can be another pull for reluctant readers just as graphic novels have been. #luslib600

A2: I really wish more verse novels were being published. I love the short & impactful way verse novels are written. Like with Ellen Hopkins. The way the book is written has such an impact on the reader! #LUSLIB600

@jen_spisak A2: For children, I wish there were more books that show kids realistic ways to stand up for themselves. I feel there is too much emphasis on bullies that are big, beefy, mean looking people... when I feel kids should realize that “normal” kids can be bullies too #luslib600

Q2: What do you wish was being published for children and young adults today? #LUSLIB600

@bjb_keith I’ll also be reading Dash soon for B.O. B. 😁 and Game Changer also!! #luslib600

Honestly, I am not reading anything yet as I have a professional book... Game Changer that I'm reading. I will be reading Dash for Battle of the Books this upcoming year. I think it speaks to diversity and social justice in light of the Japanese internment camps. #LUSLIB600

@jen_spisak I just finished Restart by Gordon Korman. As far as trends, it’s set in Middle School with bullying (not a good trend, but too common).

Q1: What children’s or young adult book are you currently reading? What trends do you see in the book (if any)?#LUSLIB600

@carlywatters Any of the Elephant and Piggie books by Mo Willems. My kids and I like to take turns being Elephant or Piggie (or another character that might come in). Our favorite is We are in a Book. The expression and excitement in the voices never gets old.

Another good read on school librarian leadership, which has been such a big topic this semester for us! #LUSLIB670

Hadn't heard of this book yet, but love that these late shows have been including books and authors into topics of discussion/guests! #LUSLIB670

My sister once (in our adulthood) sent me a photo of her poop (because I want to sensor myself) to brag about its large size. #MyWeirdSibling @jimmyfallon
