@jasonwhitlock Jason how can you understand the concept of something you’ve never watched?
English

Never watched LIV. Never understood the concept.
Tour Golf (not PGA Tour)@PGATUOR
LIV is looking like it might shut down 👀 Meanwhile, Rory just won back-to-back Masters. Seems like Rory not only won the Masters, but also came out on top of the PGA vs. LIV feud.
English

@Skulledwedge Those examples don’t prove LIV results are irrelevant they just show LIV form hasn’t consistently translated to majors. That’s not the same thing. LIV players dipping doesn’t mean the competition lacks relevance- majors are just a different test.
English

That’s one example, Joaquin winning 5x last year and not being competitive in majors. Rahm’s major performance has fallen. There’s plenty. I was just using one for that example. They really aren’t. LIV could give Rory $5 bil to leave and that would change the ecosystem but one player still wouldn’t make results that relevant.
English

Start ups fail all the time. Yeah, it’s sad. But that’s what happens when you choose to work for a company who’s entire survival depended on the financial decisions of a crown prince. They weren’t forced to work for LIV. Continuing to harp on this speaks volumes of a mans cowardice. You don’t care about those people, you care about changing the narrative away from LIV’s own failures.
Bogangolf@bogangolf
@Skulledwedge What’s sad is people celebrating the fact that 1000’s of people could potentially be out of work. That speaks volumes about a man
English

@Skulledwedge I understand the distinction, but they’re still connected. If LIV events were irrelevant, they wouldn’t factor into how players are discussed heading into majors. “$125 mil”
Using BAD missing a cut doesn’t really prove the broader point players have off weeks regardless of tour.
English

Because, up until this point, LIV had an unlimited fund to do what they want with. The league itself causes disruption. For example, they were able to give Bryson $500 mil to come over to their league. That is not tied to what results on the course means when tracking a player’s performance. Looking again at Bryson, he won two LIV events leading up to the Masters and then MC’d at the Masters. It’s not contradictory, it’s two separate conversations. One is about play and relevance of each individual player at tournaments, and one is about the larger pro golf ecosystem. “LIV is irrelevant” really means “LIV tournaments are irrelevant.”
English

@SomeGuyInBC @vincetozzo @ForePlayPod The PGA Tour caters to privileged 60 year old men & LIV draws to families & the youth. That’s why there’s so must hate back & forth. Those 2 sides do not get along.
English

@vincetozzo @ForePlayPod Or…just some guy who likes to watch golf? I know…fucking bizarre, is t it?
English

@Skulledwedge You’re kind of contradicting yourself. If LIV is central to conversations about the future of golf, then the on course product is part of that relevance. And comparing a sports league to cancer doesn’t really strengthen the argument it just adds noise.
English

This really sounds like you wanted to shoehorn the second part of your comment somewhere on this site but couldn’t quite find the right post to comment under so you ended up here.
It lives “rent free” in every golf debate surrounding the larger world of golf and the future of the game, but that doesn’t mean the on course play is relevant. Try to keep up here. LIV fans have been saying that for years as if all the bad press and everyone harping on it was actually a good thing. You know what else also gets a lot of attention when it shows up? Cancer.
English

@RealGolfNews18 @garrett_TFE I’d put money into it 🤷🏻♂️
English

@garrett_TFE Nobody in their right mind would put money into this!
English

Notable that this feels very much like a pitch to new investors
Josh Carpenter@JoshACarpenter
Scott O’Neil was on the LIV broadcast earlier and hit a number of topics.
English

@Eaglebauer @KylePorterNS Why do people feel the need to voice there opinion about business when they have no clue how a big scale busnees startup works. 🤦🏻♂️
English

@KylePorterNS Scott O’Neal said it himself last fall if you pay attention to actual LIV coverage
English

"This notion of, 'Do you have to raise money?' Probably. This is business."
They have gone through *$5 billion* in less than four years with almost nothing to show for it so it doesn't seem like it's a very good one.
To continue down that path, LIV will have to unearth an investment entity that is either ...
1. Foolish or
2. Desperate or
3. Interested in something other than traditional business

@3jackbandit @brianws51 @SportsCenter @AlanShipnuck @RichEisenShow No one in this entire world ever said LIV would surpass or come close to PGA tour Viewership. That is not the immediate goal and it’s not even possible for a 4 year old startup Golf league to compete against a 60 year old well established PGA Tour.
English

@LogoisDifferent @brianws51 @SportsCenter @AlanShipnuck @RichEisenShow At the rate they are increasing tv viewership it will take them around 100 years to get on par with the pga tour viewership
English

"Maybe LIV can endure if they can find some other funding. ... But, LIV Golf as we know it, ... appears to be coming to an end."
Sports Writer @AlanShipnuck joins the @RichEisenShow and speaks on the current state of LIV Golf ⛳
English

@BigJakeCLE @lahey_jim69950 This is just completely false because it has gone both ways. The toxicity have been vice versa.
English

@lahey_jim69950 I do find it funny that LIV fans on this app have talked more shit than anyone in golf for the last four years, and now that people are finally pushing back with common sense, this is how they respond.
English

Fuck Dan Rapaport
Fuck Riggs
Fuck Dan Rapaport.
Dan and Riggs are literally cancer to society and no one I know has an ounce of respect for either of these two fucking idiots
Dan on Golf@DanOnGolfShow
"If it's not dead, it's circling the drain. It's in the intensive care unit."
English

@brianws51 @SportsCenter @AlanShipnuck @RichEisenShow Amazon wasn’t built in a day, and it certainly wasn’t profitable overnight. Calling something a poor business model simply because it isn’t immediately turning a profit ignores how long it takes many companies and leagues to scale, build partnerships, and establish market share.
English

@SportsCenter @AlanShipnuck @RichEisenShow They won’t find funding. Only an idiot would invest $$ into such a poor business model.
It might remain on life support for a few months, but the Saudi’s are definitely pulling out, based on their Iran war losses.
English

@ginjaninja83 @thoughtXopinion @JakeSherman Big scale Startups do not make any profit for awhile idk people that so difficult for people to understand. Just look at Amazon.
English

@thoughtXopinion @JakeSherman they have lost 1.4 billion on 5 billion dollar in investment to the league so nope no profit. that includes sponsorships and a very whelming tv deal.
English

they have no moves to make. They can join the PGA Tour, DP World Tour -- or they can stop playing professional golf. Those are the moves they can make.
Golf Channel@GolfChannel
With the news of a possible cease of operations for LIV Golf, which player's moves are you monitoring?
English

@Richie3Jack This is a bit hypocritical cuz it’s gone both ways with the Toxicity. 🤦🏻♂️

It no mistake with the timing of the LIV is dead rumours dropping late Tuesday night. Everything systematically coming from unnamed sources. Reasons for this time is as follows.
1) LIV is off to its best start ever with massive events in 🇦🇺 & 🇿🇦 have shown this is real and continues to show massive growth. Add in the AK win being the biggest story in golf’s Q1 and one of the best stories in years.
2) LIV’s about to tee off for the 1st time this season in North America time zones…Mexico will be broadcasting in favourable time slots for NA fans and directly competing with the PGAT for the first time this season.
3) LIV is well on their way to selling major stakes in the franchise with would further cement them as a competitor of PGATE. Creating rumours in an attempt to scare away potential investors is a good thing for PGATE.
4) With PGAT facing potential mass layoffs and reduced prize money, they really needed a story to deflect attention.
Anyone with their eyes open can see, of all the years LIV has been alive, this is not the year they would die as they have never been better. The crowds have been massive, sponsorship has skyrocketed to nearly $500m and young talent are see it as their 1st choice. #LongLIVGolf
English

UPDATE: According to @GolfChannel, LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil told players and staff that LIV is fully funded through the end of this year.
English

@Skulledwedge @btsherrill It’s like at one point in time these people were tour fans or just fans of playing golf & yea some enjoy the way LIV plays golf & Vice verse. But both sides have created this hate to where it’s about as toxic as you can get. And with social media people enjoy spreading hate.
English

@btsherrill @Skulledwedge I don’t understand what is so wrong with being a Fan of this league like why is this such an issue to people. If so many people do not care about it or even watched let those people being why celebrate them being unhappy. It’s weird behavior. 😒
English

@CieloBonit Why would you pray for an extinction in something that makes another person happy it has no negative affect on you so why take celebrate that. 😒
English

@TomFornelli Bryson’s 59, which no one watched, or victim-class cries from players like Gooch et al., along with LIVidiots, to players getting exactly what they bargained for ($$$ in exchange for waiving mid-status in the game); losing their already precarious access to such things as Majors.
