@RafeSzn3 He’s pretty good at literally everything though. I agree he isn’t an obvious world beater at one or two things. But I’d rather Andrey Santos (who’s good at everything), than Lavia who’s absolutely shit at a number of things, and excels at a couple of others 🤷🏻‍♂️

@Blue_Footy You’re comparing him to two of the greatest midfielders over the past 20 years. More often than not, small players struggle.

✍️ Hearing people talk about how Barco will struggle in the Premier League, would he struggle? Modric didn't struggle, Bernardo Silva doesn't. Physicality is important: the aerial duels, the 50-50s, but there are other elements of physicality. Modric and Bernardo Silva have small frames but are aggressive in duels and pressing, smart in using free pockets, and quick to choose their passing options. I have seen players like that destroy physical monsters, and they couldn't get near them. Do you also think that Pedri will struggle in the Premier League? Of course, there will be limitations in aerial duels and 50-50s, but that's where the makeup of the team comes in to help them where they lack. The problem I have with fans is that they expect every single youngster coming into the club to have a stunning season; that's practically and realistically not always possible due to several factors. They are not experienced enough, may not be physically ready, may not be familiar with the food or culture, may need to adapt their style to suit the team and the league, and so on. I think Barco has enough aggression, intensity, technical ability, and the personality to succeed in England, but don't make the mistake of expecting him to hit the ground running from day one. A lot of people make that mistake. Give youngsters time to settle and adapt.

I love Elliot Anderson (if Enzo leaves) as I think it’s a pretty solid double pivot. I also am a massive fan of Mamadou Sangare at Lens. Wharton has defensive weakness that worries me and has similar mobility issues with Enzo. Ideally I would like a 6ft 3 monster destroyer who is technical and able to run with the ball whilst also being positionally sound and a natural leader. Suggestions welcome. Rodri 2.0. Not many of them out there these days sadly.

I am one of Barco’s biggest fans but don’t want to see him as the only midfielder bought in, especially “IF” Enzo leaves. For those who aren’t a big fan of this signing, let’s speak when his versatility and vision is a key component against low blocks next season…..

Phenomenal talent. His through-ball stat this season still looks fake. But I do question how much of a need this is. And if it’s best for the player. But with that said, I’m not angry.

@_muato @RH_CFC Yes I agree. I’ve been screaming out for a powerful midfielder alongside Caicedo since we signed him. I don’t think any of our midfielders bar Caicedo are “needed”. I like Andrey & Enzo. I appreciate bits of Lavia. Barco looks tidy. Essugo, meh.

@Luca_CFC @RH_CFC the main reason for utilizing James in the midfield is because we’re not really physical there imo i think if we were to get more physical midfielders there who don’t get bypassed easily we wouldn’t need that + i think we’d have to sacrifice a winger or a FB in some games

So we’re committing to a midfield 3 now? Because no way Barco plays in a 2… but then what happens to Palmer and Estevao can they play together with 3 midfielders behind them? And then what happens to Quenda?😭 The squad planning and execution is all over the fucking place.

@RH_CFC Yeah, we have too many midfielders - we’d have 7 CM’s if you include James as an option. I guess Essugo & Barco will be acclimatising next season. Lavia getting back to fitness… I still don’t like it personally. What would you do?

@Luca_CFC Not saying it’s a problem necessarily, but if we do keep Enzo, and we have Barco etc the midfield feels woefully unbalanced and geared towards a 3 for most big games

@RH_CFC Oh yeah I completely agree with those points 😂 but that’s separate from the midfield shape. You’ll see 2 with Palmer 10 & 2 wingers on a Sunday, and then see a 3 with 2 wingers midweek. Or 60 mins in one shape, and the final 30 in another. I don’t see a problem with that.

Been a fan of Barcos for a few years now. I am not here saying he is the missing piece to the puzzle by any means, but if you are looking to build a quality squad, it’s a great inclusion.
