Barry, was HC for four of their (Class of 1972) five years. 1972 11-1, 1973 10-0-1, 1974 11-0-0, 1975 10-1-0, 1976 9-2-1. 2x National Champs, 5x Big 8 Champs. Here's a stat I love. Of those 48 incoming recruits in 1972, 56.3% of those recruits played at OU four or more years at Oklahoma including Seven 5th year Seniors in 1976. Switzer always said, "If you stay, you Play."
Wallis Marsh@WallisMarsh

@MBrooks02 Not to mention College Football Hall of Fame Coaches Barry Switzer and Jimmy Johnson

Stats, You are correct, he did step out, I don’t know how the officials missed it.
Stats Kelly@Dgkcpa

@MBrooks02 Remember that game like it was yesterday. Eddie did make one mistake. He almost ran out of the end zone and got to the line and stopped and they ruled it a touchback. I think to this day he came out.

Robert, I’m with you—Eddie Hinton is one of the Top 6 WR in OU history. A true difference maker: elite WR, dynamic punt & kickoff returner, and rushed for 633 yards (5.9 ypc). Finished with 4,000+ all-purpose yards and started every game of his Sooner career. 1968 Season Opener vs. #3 Notre Dame (South Bend): • 6 catches, 122 yards, TD (72 yards) • 3 KR, 68 yards • 1 INT, 32-yard return • 228 all-purpose yards
Robert Marks@TalleyBottoms70

@MBrooks02 Eddie Hinton, a man among boys….never forget his look in reception against ND and took it to the house, about 70 yards. Then playing DB jammed Jim Seymour and intercepted and returned about 30 yards…

Road Warrior, Here's what I got, SD State game Kickoff at 8:17 pm PST ended at 11:33pm, In Oklahoma ,CST, it was 10:17pm & 1:33am CST. Getting back to the TxTech Nightmare, it Kick off at 8:45pm and ended at 12:28am, that's 3 hours & 43 minute game.
Road Warrior@OURoadWarrior

@MBrooks02 That game might have ended later than any home game, but pretty sure the game at San Diego State in 1996 ended somewhere around 2 a.m. Central. That SDSU game didn't even kick off until after 10 p.m. Central.

Andrew, You are correct, the TxTech game was a Nightmare for us. 1 Hour 34 minutes weather delay before the game started & it only got worse from there. The game (nightmare) ended at 12:38am (Latest ever), the Schools longest Home Win Streak was snapped at 39 Wins. The final, "Salt in the wound" was that TxTech did not Win another game that season.
Andrew Hewlett@HewlettAndrew

@MBrooks02 2011 genuinely felt like OU was one of better teams in the country and got snake bitten in Texas Tech game, season dramatically took a bad turn.

Oklahoma 1995 Recruiting Class Revisited One of the most unusual recruiting stories tied to Oklahoma football involves quarterback Chris Redman, one of the top quarterback prospects in the country in the 1995 recruiting cycle. Redman, a standout at Louisville Male High School in Kentucky, originally signed a National Letter of Intent with the University of Illinois. At some point after signing, Redman decided Iowa was not the right fit and wanted to be released from his Letter of Intent. In a highly unusual move for the time, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) allowed him to be released from the agreement. That type of release was extremely rare in that era, and no public explanation was ever clearly given. That development caught the attention of Oklahoma head coach Howard Schnellenberger, who had deep ties to Kentucky. Schnellenberger had: Played college football at University of Kentucky Built strong recruiting relationships throughout the state Previously served as head coach at University of Louisville Using those connections, Schnellenberger quickly moved in and convinced Redman to commit to Oklahoma. Redman even signed a Letter of Intent with the Sooners. However, the NCAA ruled that a player could not sign two National Letters of Intent, creating uncertainty around Redman’s status. Schnellenberger reportedly remained confident, telling people around the program: “He’s coming.” Then came the twist. By late July, Oklahoma had already produced its massive and elaborate 1995 Sooner Media Guide, featuring Schnellenberger prominently on the cover. The guide was huge—beautifully produced and award-winning—but so thick that many joked it was almost too big to use. Meanwhile, Redman reported for preseason camp. But not in Norman. Instead, he showed up at University of Louisville, the hometown program that Schnellenberger himself had coached before arriving at Oklahoma.

Quick note on the Chris Redman story: He originally signed with Illinois, not Iowa. Too many Big Ten schools to keep straight! Appreciate my buddy, Parker Thune for the help.

@MBrooks02 Redman should have stayed in Norman, Stoops and Heupel whipped Louisville in their house in '99
