A bittersweet moment for us at @TeamFuloZim #AmbassadorsCookOffZW 🇳🇱🤝 We say farewell to H.E Ambassador @MVerwijk Magret Verwijk, our reigning champion from the 2025 edition. 🫠🥲 She came through with warmth, great energy and real connection with the people. The challenge was simple for all Ambassadors, cook a true village classic: #PeanutButterRice and #RoadRunnerChicken. Please join us in saying sending a fond farewell to H.E Ambassador Magret Verwijk 🇳🇱 @MVerwijk
Team Fulo extends its sincere appreciation to Ambassador Verwijk for her outstanding participation in the 2025 #AmbassadorsCookOffZW, where she emerged as the champion.
All participating Ambassadors were tasked with preparing a Zimbabwean village classic , #PeanutButterRice and #RoadRunnerChicken. Her execution stood out and earned her top honours.
In keeping with the ethos of the competition, all prizes are forward donated to charitable causes. Ambassador Verwijk selected the Jairos Jiri Centre in Southerton, to receive her prize of 250 litres of paint, generously sponsored by Jordan Paints and @TKChemicalsZim .
While she will not defend her title, the Dutch Embassy @NLinZimbabwe remains the current holder of the crown. We look forward to welcoming Ambassador-designate Mr. Matthijs van Eeuwen @matthijse1983 and trust he will embrace the challenge in the forthcoming edition.
We wish Ambassador Verwijk every success in her next assignment and thank her for her meaningful contribution to the #AmbassadorsCookOffZW.

Last year the #AmbassadorsCookOffZW ended with great food ,bragging rights, and most importantly it ended with something far more meaningful.
When the Kingdom of The Netherlands Ambassador to Zimbabwe @MVerwijk ,winner of the 2025 #AmbassadorsCookOffZW , handed over the first of 200 litres of paint donated by @TKChemicalsZim manufacturers of Jordan Paints to the Jairos Jiri Children’s Centre in Southerton,Harare, it became a moment none of us in the room will forget. 😊
The centre, which houses children living with disabilities, welcomed the donation as a chance to brighten and refresh the buildings.
Representatives from Jairos Jiri, TK Chemicals, and colleagues from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, @NLinZimbabwe and myself, gathered for what turned into a deeply emotional handover ceremony.
What started as a fun diplomatic cook-off had come full circle directly touching lives in our community. I must say I was cutting onions,eyes welling up 🥲
As we move closer to #AmbassadorsCookOffZW 2026, this video is a reminder of what happens when partners and sponsors step up. Together we can turn a friendly competition into real, visible impact.

Last week, @CityofBulawayo 🇿🇼 and @VEI_NL 🇳🇱 convened the Trade Effluent and Water Recycling Indaba in #Bulawayo. 🚰
It was great to see strong commitment from the City, private sector, experts, and financial institutions to tackle Bulawayo’s water pollution issues.
Two Dutch #water experts from @PUM_nl 🇳🇱 also presented, building on ongoing work with local companies to manage effluent better.
An MoU will be signed by stakeholders within the catchment to operationalise agreements at the next meeting which is already lined up.🤝

#Zimbabwe: @EUCouncil extends the EU arms embargo until February 2027, while lifting travel bans and asset freezes.
The EU 🇪🇺 will continue to monitor the effectiveness of these measures in light of any future developments.

Ambassador Verwijk spoke on the improved relations between Zimbabwe and the Netherlands.
"Relations have really evolved. At the beginning of my stay I was asked to work especially on increasing bilateral trade. We managed to double trade between the Netherlands and Zimbabwe."
She added that the Dutch people loved horticultural produce that ended up in their supermarkets.
