🇳🇱🇿🇼Great to see the NL flag at Baker’s Inn today, celebrating the successful rollout of Dutch bakery equipment that will get Baker’s Inn to its goal of 1 million loaves per day, feeding the nation. 🍞 🧑‍🍳Dutch company Royal Kaak Group supplies high-tech automated bakery systems around the world. At Baker’s Inn, Kaak technology underpins the entire production process. A perfect pairing of Zimbabwean ambition and Dutch innovation. 🤝

When the Kingdom of The Netherlands Ambassador to Zimbabwe @MVerwijk ,winner of the 2025 #AmbassadorsCookOffZW , handed over the first of 200 litres of paint donated by @TKChemicalsZim manufacturers of Jordan Paints to the Jairos Jiri Children’s Centre in Southerton,Harare, it became a moment none of us in the room will forget. 😊 The centre, which houses children living with disabilities, welcomed the donation as a chance to brighten and refresh the buildings. Representatives from Jairos Jiri, TK Chemicals, and colleagues from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, @NLinZimbabwe and myself, gathered for what turned into a deeply emotional handover ceremony. What started as a fun diplomatic cook-off had come full circle directly touching lives in our community. I must say I was cutting onions,eyes welling up 🥲 As we move closer to #AmbassadorsCookOffZW 2026, this video is a reminder of what happens when partners and sponsors step up. Together we can turn a friendly competition into real, visible impact. 🌱Thanks to the team from the Horticultural Development Council of Zimbabwe @hdczim for a good catch-up today. HDC is boosting Zimbabwe's fresh produce output by building capacity of farmers, building hub-and-spoke networks, & improving the operating environment. 📊📊 🇳🇱🤝🇿🇼The Embassy provided institutional support to establish HDC & they remain a critical partner as we work together to increase Dutch-Zim trade. 🫛

Last week, @CityofBulawayo 🇿🇼 and @VEI_NL 🇳🇱 convened the Trade Effluent and Water Recycling Indaba in #Bulawayo. 🚰 It was great to see strong commitment from the City, private sector, experts, and financial institutions to tackle Bulawayo’s water pollution issues. Two Dutch #water experts from @PUM_nl 🇳🇱 also presented, building on ongoing work with local companies to manage effluent better. An MoU will be signed by stakeholders within the catchment to operationalise agreements at the next meeting which is already lined up.🤝

🟦Today, the WELEAD Africa team had the honour and privilege of hosting a courtesy visit from the Deputy Ambassador of the @NLinZimbabwe , Mr. Ilyaas Sherally. 🇳🇱🇿🇼 The visit created a valuable moment of connection and reflection. It provided an opportunity for him to engage with our Regional Director, @namataik_ , and for us to formally introduce our newly appointed Interim Country Manager, @GodsFlower_ . The exchange was warm, insightful, and reaffirmed the importance of strong partnerships in advancing youth-leadership. Our discussions spotlighted the work WELEAD Africa continues to champion with young people in Zimbabwe and across the region, particularly our commitment to youth leadership development, civic engagement, and amplifying young voices. We also reflected on the meaningful collaboration under the #Free2Express project, which was supported by the Dutch Embassy in Zimbabwe. Through this initiative, we proudly worked alongside @MagambaNetwork to create safe and creative platforms for young people to freely express themselves, engage in civic dialogue, and strengthen their participation in public life. 🇳🇱 Our Ambassador-designate, Matthijs van Eeuwen, is connecting with counterparts in Brussels ahead of his arrival in Zimbabwe. 🇿🇼 Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg (BENELUX) and the EU, Ammon Mutembwa, shared insights into Zimbabwe’s economic outlook, sports diplomacy, and opportunities for Dutch businesses and investment. 🇿🇲 With Mary Chirwa, Zambia’s Ambassador to BENELUX and the European Union, he explored opportunities within the Lobito Corridor. 🇲🇼Discussions with Malawi’s Chargé d’Affaires in Brussels, Richard Chiputula, focused on identifying new avenues for cooperation between Malawi and the Netherlands. 🇪🇺 Also had informative discussions with the EU including EDEO and INTPA colleagues on Global Gateway, Lobito Corridor and critical raw materials partnerships.
