@modernheroestv Yes they did start buying diesels because they were cheaper to run and the fuel lasted longer. Then the government cottoned on to it, And no I’m not going way back in time either. I’ve only been driving for 20 so I know what I’m saying

@JEUninformed Find me a petrol or electric van that can go from Manchester to the south coast and back on one tank and I might be vaguely interested. Actually I’m not interested in electric so don’t bother

@modernheroestv @philsbin @Fireblade_Jim Way more efficient. I had a scirocco petrol TSI years ago and I got 180 miles a tank at its worst and about 230ish at its best, I then get a 2.2 mercesdes diesel and it got 400 miles a tank at its worst and 600+ on motorway driving.

@paullewismoney It won't even be £37 each. It'll only be for vulnerable people, low incomes etc....the majority will get nothing, while a few will get more than £37

Heating oil costs. England Councils will get share of £27m allocated only if at least 1% of homes only use heating oil for central heating (2021 Census). My calcs show 152 will share £27m between 729,829 heating oil users and 159 will get nothing for their 30,648 users.

@solisvogel @NetzerohomeUk @duncsand Typical house usage is 8-10kWh per day, call it 10, saving £2.90 per day, so a £4k battery install has a 3.7year pay back time, saving just over £1k a year. In year 4 onwards you're making £1k a year at current prices.

@MachLoopWales @duncsand You can buy a 10kwh battery for £1500 Inverter for £700 or so Installation for £1200 This is the quote I have. Less than half of what you suggested.

@LateBrakeShow If you can charge at home (now only 3.5p per unit overnight on some tariffs) then 1000 miles of driving will cost around £10 of electricity vs £165 petrol at 40mpg. Much cheaper servicing, tyres last longer, brakes last longer, instant power, quiet, smooth, lots of driver aids

EV drivers having to pay 3p per mile in a few years.....the price of petrol has risen 3p this week, if a petrol car does 40mpg, thats 9 miles per litre, so it's already up by 0.3p per mile......that'll soon creep up to nearer 1p per mile @autopap @LateBrakeShow

@SamRaincock Some jurors also lose money by being at court, max allowable loss of earnings being less than they actually earn. Why should somebody lose out financially from being forced to be a juror? No wonder some just agree with the others to get back to work quicker

@MachLoopWales I don’t think that is most people’s experience of it. It is not a perfect system but in my personal view, it is the best available.

And in the crown court you may get assistance funding your defence & pay for experts like me to examine your phone to see the speeds travelled, and also if you had used your phone. Equality in arms. Removal of jury is also cost cutting - it will cause miscarriages of justice.

@WalesOffice Only for the vulnerable (low income) households, not for everyone? People using mains gas have a price cap to help, irrespective of income. How about treating all citizens of Wales fairly?

The UK Government is providing an extra £3.8m to help people in Wales with rising heating oil bills.

@AngryBritain And it's only vulnerable (low income) households that use oil. So that 1.45% is actually much lower. Meanwhile everybody else using gas gets a price cap.

Please note that Starmers pledge of £53m to help those using heating oil represents a benefit of just 1.45% of the entire UK population. And literally fuck the rest of us who need to heat our homes and fill the car up.

@364690 You should see some of the houses in my area that rely on heating oil because they're no mains gas. Lots of council houses, no range rovers, and now no heating oil 😱
