I notice it’s only men making such statements. One baby if it’s your first is extremely challenging…for the mother. The father is just along for the ride, even if he wants to be helpful it’s not his arena until age 1. Figuring out breastfeeding, the pain associated, shifting your ego and adjusting to living life on someone else’s needs entirely, and not to mention figuring out a new normal of how to be. In many ways (and even mothers of six have said this) the first baby is the absolute hardest for a woman. It’s downright feminist to want to downplay this challenge. Instead we should encourage and celebrate women for embracing this challenge with grace, patience and perseverance!
