We had $100 MM in funding and two sites under construction to build West into the largest automated checkout gas station / convenience store chain in the country.... maybe the world. How we got there and why we called it off (🧵):

I’ve learned more in my current vibecode project than in years of higher ed. Completely serious.
I’ve also learned to identify more with my boomer mother. The confusion I have converting my mediocre Make scenario to a legit AWS Lambda must be what she feels when trying to move app icons around on iOS.

@CalebChamberla6 Look, I'm most worried about one of these in my AirBnB in some place like Tijuana and then waking up to find some of my organs robotically harvested by the furniture.

1. Cool idea. 2. Company has very, very obviously never built a robot arm. These tall, spindly things have way too many degrees of freedom, way too much cantilever moment, not nearly enough rigidity. They'll bounce like crazy and be completely uncontrollable.
Aaron Tan@aaronistan

Introducing Lume, the robotic lamp. The first robot designed to fit naturally into your home and help with chores, starting with laundry folding. If you’re looking for help and want to avoid the privacy and safety concerns of humanoids in your home, pre-order now.

I think luck was part of it. But then I realize I am lucky every morning that I wake up with a pulse. Luck is just a numbers game. Honestly, at the time we pushed off- there was no time to delay. We met in person, exchanged 2 emails thereafter. He offered an equity stake on a highly uncertain business. The next day I showed up ready to work any hour of any day, until we accomplished our next milestone. 6 years later, we're still here. We crossed off essentially all of your vetting suggestions eventually, but certainly not before we agreed to work together. I believe very strongly that you can get a fairly good read on someone within the first 10 minutes of meeting them. At least enough to know whether you'd be willing to spend another 10 minutes with them. And if you make it through a few 10 minute cycles, and you still feel the energy- then you might have a good candidate for a lifetime of partnership.

People should stop rushing into cofounder relationships. Want to really get it right? Here is a master list before becoming cofounders: Spend at least 500 hours working together Get in at least three arguments together Talk about life goals Talk about lifestyle goals Do sales together Write out your values and anti values separately, then test the other cofounder for them without talking about them blatantly Talk about divorce upfront Everyone vests, milestone map the vesting Use the slice the pie methodology for equity splits Clear tiebreaker Clearly define roles and success in each role If 2 of you are good at all the same stuff, one of you isn't needed Never go 50/50 Go out to eat together beforehand, see how they react Go to an escape room together Write a prenup ahead of time Meet their spouse or partner (bigger than ppl realize) Vet their lifestyle

Maybe I’m wrong? If so, and there are actually legitimate uses for Bitcoin, please tell me concretely what you’ve used your Bitcoin for recently? “Reserve currency” doesn’t count, I want actual transactions. I’m all ears!
SMB Attorney@SMB_Attorney

At present, there is no legitimate use case for Bitcoin. Even if there is, 99% of holders don’t understand it and are holding as a pure speculative play. Making it still, even at $118k, susceptible to a spectacular collapse under the right circumstances.

Lots to unpack here, lots going on. In this artwork you can clearly see he is battling the evils of the world, like the L for losers and the XX chromosome for girls, kinda the same thing. Looks like the supernatural are on his side and he was knighted for his bravery. Hope that clears things up.

Because once it was running I could pause it. I still can’t cancel it, or at least can’t figure it out from my phone. I did promote it, but I didnt know it would display as an ad until after I paid for it. I didn’t want to advertise anything, so I tried to undo it. Honestly, I am advertising myself, so it is not a disingenuous designation, I just didn’t feel comfortable with the stigmatization.

@MangledCapital I actually don't see "AD" anywhere on my end. I wouldn't sweat the hater. They don't even have a verified account. More likely that they're the spammer.

So… apparently when you boost a post it displays as an “AD,” which I did not know until after the fact. And once you do it, there is no way to stop it. I was proud of my last post, the story means a lot to me, and I thought it would be a fun share. My bad.
