@TheLobster111 It seems to be precise, but not so precise it can't happen by accident; I was able to find two accounts of players saying this happened to them by accident. I found using Barry makes it more likely, but was also able to cause it without him. Thank you very much for your inquiry!

@MarioBrothBlog How easy is it to accidentally do this? Does Bowser need to be precisely positioned between two chests, or is there a significant margin of area where he can be standing that causes this to happen?

In Super Paper Mario, Bowser can accidentally break the game at the worst possible time purely due to how large he is. His size allows him to open two chests at once at the bottom of the Pit of 100 Trials, which will freeze the game and undo vast amounts of progress.

@pablo5425 The top screen shows they are traveling to Peach's castle in the past (i.e. Shroob Castle)! Thank you very much for your inquiry!

In Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, an unused room takes Mario and Luigi through a time portal into a white void. This inadvertently highly resembles the classic SpongeBob SquarePants episode "SB-129", where the same exact scenario happens to Squidward.

@Kirb_Star I am terribly sorry, I merely thought that the fact that it is time travel specifically in both cases (ending the characters up in a "place beyond time") and not a simple portal that was notable. I hope the showcase of the unused room can still be of interest!

@MarioBrothBlog This feels like a stretch to me, I feel 'swirly portal leading to a white void' is not as uncommon of a trope to really need to point out how similar it is to a Spongebob episode

@mbatat_Art It only appears during this one time travel animation in this unused room, and is in fact simply imported from Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. Its purpose is unknown but is speculated to be a remnant of a scrapped cutscene. Thank you very much for your inquiry!

@Roshibomb1 The timing is nearly the same (I merely cut out 0.5 seconds of flashing), but the reason I believe this is unintentional is because the white void has various invisible ledges, and so likely was never actually meant to be white and only appears as such due to being unfinished!

@MarioBrothBlog "inadvertently?" is the timing cut up to match the scenes, or is this actually the exact timing for each? because if it's the latter, it might even be intentional

@jxc I am terribly sorry, I used a pie chart because that is the standard way of demonstrating percentages in diagram form, and did not intend any relation to the medium. However, to prevent such associations, I will look into other forms of expressing percentages in the future.

@MarioBrothBlog A pie chart may be a slightly misleading way to demonstrate the amount of space something takes up on an optical disc, as the data on the disc is stored in (roughly) concentric circles starting at the centre rather than in pie-like slices.

Luigi's Mansion originally included a Pikmin movie, which was removed in the NSO Switch 2 version. This was to save space; with 63 MB, the Pikmin movie is half the size of Luigi's Mansion itself. The original disc had plenty of empty space so the movie was just thrown in.

@jd7489 @RoseSilicon Thank you very much for this perspective. I have added an addendum acknowledging the possibility of the movie not being deleted. I hope the rest of the information in the post can still be of interest.

@MarioBrothBlog @RoseSilicon yes and no. I'm sure many casual viewers wouldn't notice it too quickly, but if you've played Pikmin 1 a lot you can tell they're using a pre-release build in the movie it's subtle, but it's possible they consider it to no longer be an accurate demonstration of the game

Addendum: please note that since Switch 2 software cannot yet be datamined, it is not actually known if the movie was deleted or access to it was simply removed, though it seems unlikely Nintendo would do the latter without the former. I hope the data can still be of interest!

@jfelzrpm It is a third of the total data on the game's disc, but half the size of the data for the game itself (or in other words, the red slice in the first diagram is half the size of the green slice). I apologize if my wording was not as clear as it could have been!

@jfrostyfish7 The Japanese, English and Italian versions say it was the car. The French, German and Spanish versions say it was Wario. This appears to be either a mistranslation or a fanciful joke that propagated through the European translations! Thank you very much for your inquiry!

The English manual for WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgames states that Dr. Crygor created Wario's car. However, the French manual changes this into Dr. Crygor claiming to have created Wario himself. This makes him either Wario's father or Wario some kind of "Crygor's Monster".

It is possible that Mr. E, the eponymous mysterious book from Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, is inspired at least partially by the Voynich Manuscript, a famous medieval book that seems to describe unindentifiable wondrous flora in a completely incomprehensible language.

@Luxary16 That is entirely possible, and of course none of these are meant to be seen by the player anyway as the characters never morph into those animations to begin with. I hope the fact that these animations look so bizarre when viewed in the debug mode can still be of interest!

@MarioBrothBlog These most likely were not meant to be seen as a single animation. As a matter of fact, it is common for animators to "pack" multiple test poses into a single clip to check for geometry deformation/overlap, and they'd be scrubbing the anim timeline to rapidly check all of them!

Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour contains a debug mode in its files, which provides an animation viewer. For an unknown reason, the animations of the characters moving into their golfing positions have a variety of bizarre motions as part of their initial setup.
