People get hung up on messaging, mentality, “bottle” etc. I’m not saying it doesn’t matter. But for me, more than managers, or tactics, or mentality or anything else, talent wins trophies. the most talented teams win stuff. And our attacking talent isn’t currently anywhere near the level. In general, one of the strongest & fairest criticisms that I’ve heard about this current “project” has been the way we’ve approached attacking recruitment. I don’t think we’ve gotten it right after multiple attempts & I feel like that’s where we could fall short of our goals more than anything else

So the Dems don’t want Swalwell to be governor of California, but he can stay a member of Congress? Are we running a halfway house for sexual predators in Congress now? No. He should not be allowed to stay in Congress.

@DarrenArsenal1 In and of itself not a problem against a high pressing team, you’re trying to tempt them on, the question / criticism is much more what happens afterwards.

Ultimately this is a tactical defeat not a psychological one imo- which I don’t think is ‘better’ than the more attractive psychological angle (in fact I think it’s worse) and to frame it that way discredits Bournemouth. For Arsenal, technical level needs to rise, without Odegaard and Merino not enough ball security under pressure and I’d wager we’ll see fixing that as a big focus in the summer (which obvs doesn’t help us now!)

Struggled with the four man press again much like the Carabao Cup Final. Frustrating that the warning signs weren’t heeded in the build up to their second goal and we continued to play short even though it was consistently getting us into trouble.

That might be the one. That might be the result we look back on. We all saw the banana skin, we all saw the red flags and still had to watch a performance like that. Until we prove that we can get over the line, we've got to eat the narratives. It's as simple as that.

@TheAthleticFC Even simpler solution: VAR only checks what someone asks them to check Onfield ref could say 'Something happened on my blind side, can you show me a replay please ' Or manager could use one of his very limited number of challenges to challenge a decision for a specific reason

The ball was bundled into the net at the far post and the visiting supporters went wild. While the celebrations continued, I was sitting 136 miles away, in a dark corner of a TV studio in west London, fearing the worst. As the video assistant referee (VAR), I had spotted three potential offences in the build-up. As I worked through the checks, it felt like the walls were closing in, the darkness was intensifying and my mouth was getting drier while my heartbeat rose. In 20 years as a referee on the pitch, I never felt the kind of pressure that goes with being a VAR. Eventually, more than three minutes after the goal had been scored, I confirmed that it could stand. It had felt like a waste of everyone’s time, that a joyous and spontaneous moment had been ruined by a nerd desperate to find cause to wreak misery. Nothing could be further from the truth. Referees are people too, and feel the pain inflicted by a video review system that is simply not fit for purpose. Graham Scott, The Athletic's new referee columnist. 🔗 nytimes.com/athletic/71836…

The SAVE America Act is about proof of citizenship to register to vote and using a Photo ID when you do so. Why are Chuck Schumer and Democrats AGAINST this common sense measure? Because they want illegal aliens to vote in our elections.

After 11 years, you would think people would understand how Trump operates. Yes, it was blunt and to our American ears, over the top. It's Trump's crude way of speaking. But it was also fluent Farsi. It's the one language the Iranian leaders understand. It's the language of the Middle East. Trump wasn't speaking to us, he was speaking to Iran. Twenty-four hours before he said it, the Iranians opposed a cease fire. After he said it, they were for a ceasefire. Btw, for 47 years we heard them chant "Death to America." Where were you then?
Michael McFaul@McFaul

While everyone has moved on, I remain deeply troubled by Trumps threat to wipe out an entire civilization. No American president has talked in such terms. No American president ever should.

@nick4768 @YankeeGunner Yes but you have to look at it the other way, we could try that through ball lose it and concede and then everyone would be utterly furious. But to not expect the first half of a first leg to be like that is an expectation fault imo.

I just spoke with the President and would like to publicly congratulate him on this. Some of my not-so-smart Democrat colleagues will soon be forced to issue public statements of support when they understand the terms of what the agreement is. To be clear, President Trump has been consistent and precise in his messaging from the beginning. Only weeks ago, Iran was viewed as an existential threat to the US and most of Europe. NATO exposed who they really are. Many people got exposed. Those who try to use this to sow division or just straight-up lie have also outed themselves. To be clear, from the beginning, this was about saving American lives. President Trump has truly accomplished something that no other POTUS could have pulled off. PEACE WILL ULTIMATELY PREVAIL.
