@Tafkaj It should be the cm against soton. Let rice and zubi get a proper rest. (It wont be).

@nick4768 It's not just that I'm not big on him in CM, the club aren't, he absolutely can be tried there in lesser games

Lot of people highlighting Rice and Zubimendi being tired?.. Almost like it was worth using others in dead games x.com/i/status/20292…
Tafkaj@Tafkaj

@gunnerblog @TheAthleticFC Both of them played in both legs of the league cup semi final Zubimendi came on against Wigan when we could have probably played Arteta himself Zubimendi played away at Inter when it wasn't needed Rice came on in the same game These are all games they could have been rested

@timstillman_ I think martinelli and madueke are wildly different in terms of security. Madueke and Gyokeres are really far from the others.

@nick4768 Personally think he is. I’m with you that he’s not mega technical, but certainly more secure than Martinelli or Madueke. Trossard will go into midfield a lot under instruction, the others can’t really do that.

What yesterday showed was that, without Odegaard in particular, technical level not high enough at Arsenal. (Missing Odegaard, Eze and Merino for the same position proved to be a bridge too far too). History tells us Arteta sees issues and, if anything, over corrects in the market. Strongly suspect technique on the ball in small spaces will be a very big priority in the summer.

@timstillman_ Is trossard really that much better technically than martinelli?!? I think LT's technical level is greatly exaggerated (he takes alot of touches into the wrong areas) whilst GM's is the underestimated (cos he's quick).

Around the edges I don’t think Arteta likes playing Trossard and Calafiori together but both raise technical level compared to players they compete with in their positions.

@Tafkaj Trossard being a technical player is also a load of bollocks. Hes slower than martinelli, that doesn't make him more technical than him

The technical level of the team has massively dropped, in favour of physical traits players, that came home to roost today, couldn't get out of our half, some of the passing was atrocious
Arsenal Column@ArsenalColumn

Game also exposed Arsenal's lack of skill, close control - probably why Trossard stayed on for so long, when Martinelli, to stretch City, made more sense. The team relies on getting their patterns of play correct. Was surprised we didn't try getting the FBs central or something

Unfortunately this is what happens when you face a technical football team and you have removed a lot of the technical ability from the side, to favour duels, set pieces, and fine margin caution Men against boys We took a knife into a gunfight

@theFIGroll @Tafkaj Trossard was a good signing as a sub. Its mental that the teams level rose, and his didnt, and he somehow became first choice.

@Tafkaj I don’t want to see Trossard start another game. Weak as piss. Big Vik, out of his depth. Madueke, less said the better.

Never been so glad for an international break. Don’t have to see the manager, Gyokeres or Trossard for a whole 2 weeks. Bliss.

@Tafkaj I have no issue with it either way. Some GKs play all games up to the serious rounds. Ideally he starts kepa so we arent wasting time and money buying a new back up GK this summer.

@Tafkaj @TheJollygunner The biggest blot on this season. Hes not better than martinelli or eze at anything but is thought of as a halfway house between them

@TheJollygunner I still wouldn't disregard Eze as a roaming wide left player tbh, it's just not how Mik likes his wide players is it

Really good performance & a clear continuation from the Everton game. Enjoyed the intent to play forward and take shots from distance. Superb goals (& performances) from Rice & Eze. The defence was legit all night. Gyokores was very good (looked rapid as well) #Justice

@kickarseHD Aina admitted he handballed it against us and got away with it. Havertz got trod on. The gyokeres (v Newcastle) and Saka (v Fulham) blatant ones. Thats before you even get past the absolute stonewallers

@timstillman_ @GoonerKal I think the second part (re MCFC) is the main thing. I think if we were going up against Liverpool, there would be quite a few more wanting us to win. Its just no one cares about City.

It's not complicated and it's got nothing to do with style of football, nobody wants to see big teams who haven't won anything in a while break their duck. It's standard fan stuff. Almost no champions or challengers are ever actually loved by the 'neutral' because there is no such thing as a 'neutral.' People don't mind City winning the league because it's very easy to compartmentalise and they don't have a big fanbase so people just don't encounter many City fans online and in day to day life. All this stuff about 'style' is utter nonsense.

@Tafkaj Arteta just laughed at the thought of a conventional full back. I can’t believe Mosquera in the pockets yesterday on the half turn didn’t help us against a low block. Baffling.

It's mental that our season could hinge on cameos from a 16 year old but when the system is so rigid, maybe it needs the freedom of a 16 year old with no fear and no priors

Why was there a lengthy VAR check on the Gyokeres goal btw? What were they looking for? Spoiled the moment.
