My pet theory about The Odyssey is that Nolan was starting to accumulate a reputation in Hollywood as being "the right wing director" and his vandalism of Homer's epic is an attempt to insulate himself from that. Providing his bona fides, if you will.

Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro got into a physical altercation in which Adebayo struck Herro, per @ShamsCharania 😳 The altercation took place in Las Vegas on Friday after Bam approached Herro about comments he made on social media critiquing him

Here are some spoiler-free points from a French critic who just saw The Odyssey: • Calls it “immense.” • A masterpiece of narrative editing. • His 3rd favorite Nolan behind The Dark Knight and Inception. • Says it’s Nolan’s best-directed film and the culmination of his filmmaking style. • Says the film shares similarities with Dunkirk, Inception and The 13th Warrior. • Describes it as a very faithful adaptation of Homer’s epic. • Says Nolan reinterprets the myth without ever betraying it. • Reflects on humanity’s capacity for violence and the consequences of Greek hubris. • Compares its emotional journey home to Interstellar and its fragmented timeline to Dunkirk. • The Cyclops sequence is great, while Circe’s is the film’s most horrifying. • Calls Ludwig Göransson’s score his best collaboration with Nolan. • Especially praises the performances of Matt Damon, Samantha Morton, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, John Leguizamo, Tom Holland and Himesh Patel. • Says Zendaya has limited screen time but really liked how her character is handled. • Says Lupita Nyong’o also has limited screen time, but believes she was the right choice for the role. • Praises the way Nolan gives real weight to the female characters while showing how they are ultimately trapped by the violence and power of men. • Says the action sequences are impeccably edited. • Says Jennifer Lame deserves the Oscar for Best Editing. • Didn’t feel the film had any pacing issues despite its runtime. • Says the third act is the film’s most emotionally satisfying. • His only real criticism is that the epilogue could have been more ambiguous. • Says it’s one of the best peplums ever made, ranks it above Gladiator, and believes it will stand the test of time. • Concludes that the film is “truly a remarkable achievement.” • Final rating: 4.5–5/5.
