In 2019 he was public about it; In 2023 he was hypocritically private about it masquerading as a journalist; meanwhile he has zero training or experience as a journalist. In 2027, he is wickedly pretentious about it. Social media vitriol, hate and revenue is more important to him than national interest. #comeoutofthepoliticalpartisancloset

Let Easter give us hope of a better Nigeria ahead. As we commemorate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, even amid difficult times, we encourage you to remain steadfast in hope. Indeed, “Good Friday must come before Easter Sunday,” and our present challenges must not define our future. We understand the heavy burden many families are carrying as a result of economic hardship. As we share in your struggles, we urge you not to lose heart. These difficult moments are temporary trials—our collective “cross”—that can lead to renewal if we remain resilient and committed to the common good. Our nation continues to face serious challenges, especially in governance and the impact it has on the daily lives of citizens. Yet, Easter reminds us that after sacrifice comes renewal, and after darkness comes light. A better Nigeria is possible when we, together, choose accountability, compassion, and responsible leadership. We remain hopeful that, through God’s grace and the determination of our people, the journey ahead will lead to a brighter future. Though the road may be rough, we believe in a Nigeria that works for everyone. May this Easter renew our faith, strengthen our resolve, and inspire us to work together for a just and prosperous nation. Happy Easter. -PO

I could have exited with bang last year and taken the entire platform down with me, like these this same group of people did when they took the Parallel Facts website down while exiting before they invested in WAW 3 years ago. But I'm not that kind of person. I had grouses. I had beef. But I won't destroy something I built just because I have beef with someone who is running it. I'd rather leave it for the person and go do my own thing, which is exactly what I did. It's like the biblical story of Solomon and the 2 women claiming to be a child's mother. It's easy to see who the real mother is by gauging who is willing to light it on fire to prove a point. West Africa Weekly was my child. I told the story of how it began in my book. I was living in this dirty Airbnb studio apartment in a dingy building called French Hostel in Akweteyman, Achimota, Accra. It was called French Hostel because most of the tenants were students from Cote d'Ivoire and Cameroon. This was where I was at rock bottom in 2021. Still winded and confused from ending up in exile after End SARS, running out of money and options, waking up everyday and wondering where the hell I fit in this new world post-October 20. Then someone here on Twitter tagged me on a post about something called the 'Substack Local Fellowship', and even though I wasn't really sure whether I wanted to go back to investigative journalism, it was at least a temporary way out of my existential conundrum. In my application, I named the prospective newsletter "West Africa Weekly", because I thought I would put out a new piece every week and since I was in Ghana, I wanted to cover Ghanaian stories too. I ended up getting it, and they asked me to nominate a graphic artist and editor. I nominated my editor from @NewsWireNGR, @TheFavoredWoman and that was how it all began. Just me in a cheap, dingy apartment that had a cockroach problem, a cheap Dell Latitude laptop, a Vodafone 4G MiFi router, the promise of a $7,500 funding tranche every 3 months, some editorial support from Fola, and however far I was willing to go to get a great story. That's where all of this began. Just me and my cheap laptop in an urban slum somewhere in Accra. From there, the world heard my voice. I told Itunu Babalola's story and nearly got arrested in Cote d'Ivoire in the process. I went after loan sharks owned by Chinese triads. I went after Nigeria's biggest corporates. I told the story that could have ended my career because of how close I was to it. I went after a drug lord-turned-politician who was running for president, and eventually won. I took the FBI, CIA, DEA, IRS, USAO and State Dept to court and won, only for them to refuse to carry out the court order to date. Somewhere along the line I was granted political asylum and I got taken into the journalistic equivalent of a witness protection program because my life was under threat. Nigeria's National Intelligence Agency attempted to kidnap me from Ghana. It was the craziest adventure of my life, and it was nearly the last one. So naturally when it was time to accept investment and move this operation from one crazy daredevil with his newsletter and YouTube channel to a structured operation with a board and reporters and HR, I wasn't going to say no. I was tired and I needed to rest. And so despite all the subsequent humiliations, annoyances and grievances after I let other people control what I built, I was never going to burn it all down just because my time there was up. My baby is always my baby regardless of who controls it. Most people are just finding out today that I left WAW nearly 8 months ago, only because the new management decided to act this drama on the TL. They will be fine or not. I wish this could have been handled differently, but to each his own. Nobody can take my memories away from me, and I will always remember what I built. Not what it has become. Peace and love be unto ye. 👋🏿

Dele Farotimi. A victim of Nigeria
The problem is that you lot are easily manipulated and distracted, David wouldn’t steal a dime of anyone’s money, and if he is a man ruled by avarice, it wouldn’t be the kobo kobo of the news platform he founded, where he’s unpaid, that he’d steal. This is a hatchet job..
Nsogbu di nso@Dino_patric1

@DeleFarotimi I am not surprised at this news, I told you sometime that you Him you say you are and David can be biased, now to add corruption to his resume. Chai

I appreciate your feedback. The video is the same shaky, low-res 2023 clip that's circulated before—men casually around a green helicopter in a grassy field, including the one in the black cap and round glasses. No labels, arrests, or context appear in the frames. Extensive checks across news sources and reports find zero credible evidence linking any NADECO figure, Tinubu, or Sanwo-Olu to a Malian drug dealer or incident in Guinea. It's an unsubstantiated rumor from the old footage. My take stays based on what's verifiable.

Abazz, I can confirm that you've dispatched the jersey, but trust me, it wasn’t successful. "These are official player version jerseys, the lighter, more breathable........" The people you sent the jersey, are they players? Are they not fans??? Why did you decide to send the player version? I'm sorry, they are very very very low quality jersey even if you claimed that they are same grade with what is used by the professionals. If they are truly original, why did you ask one of them to keep the jersey and still offered to send a new one? Is that not a loss on your end? You also stated that you’re committed to making sure that every winner receives exactly what meets their expectations. But unfortunately, they are not even happy with what they got. We all know what we are doing.

Update on the Jerseys Giveaway Good evening everyone, As of this morning, I have successfully dispatched 10 out of the 15 jerseys courtesy of @victorosimhen9. This is because @_abdulakeem_ has so far shared the list of 10 winners with me since Thursday. The remaining 5 will be sent out immediately once he provides the full details. Out of the 10 dispatched: - 4 recipients are in Lagos. - I have confirmed safe delivery for 3 of them. - The 4th recipient wasn’t available at the time of delivery, so I personally connected him with the rider over a call to arrange pickup. All deliveries are being handled with care across Lagos and different cities according to the location of whoever he picks. On the feedback about the fabric: These are the official Player Version jerseys — the lighter, more breathable material designed for on-pitch performance (same grade used by professionals). They are not the heavier fan/replica versions. one of the winner have expressed dissatisfaction on the preference saying they want thicker style but these are the jerseys I won’t put fake out there. The jersey’s been delivered are sold at that price as I did not add or deduct neither did I change the quality I’m committed to makingsure every winner receives exactly what meets their expectations. I appreciate everyone’s understanding as we wrap this up smoothly. I’ll keep you updated on the final 5.

But the NADECO NARCOS in power today ran away when the struggle was real ana also that he was busy cutting deals behind with Abacha to become a Commissioner. APC would have wished Obi didn't make that post and I'm sure they would prefer everything go back to "status quo Ante bellum"😂😂.

Arthur Nwankwo, Ojo Madueke, Ralph Uwechue, and Ndubuisi Kanu were giants of NADECO. Chima Ubani was the officer commanding in the streets. So also Joel Obi. All Igbos. May their souls rest in peace.

Disturbing Report on Our Growing Poverty. Recent reports should deeply concern every responsible leader and citizen in Nigeria. A new policy study released by Agora Policy, with support from the Nigeria Economic Stability and Transformation Programme and the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, has shown that the poverty rate in our country has climbed from about 40% before the current reforms to over 63% today under this administration. Explicitly showing that the economic reforms of this administration have pushed more Nigerians into poverty than ever experienced in our dear nation. For a country whose population is estimated at over 220 million people, this means that well above 140 million Nigerians now live in poverty. Families nationwide can no longer afford basic necessities such as food, transportation, rent, or healthcare. Across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria, families report painful coping strategies, reducing food consumption, trekking instead of using public transport, having no electricity to use, and borrowing simply to survive. Small businesses, which are the backbone of our economy are shutting down. An economy cannot be said to be improving when the majority of its people are becoming poorer. What makes this situation even more troubling is the contrast between the growing hardship faced by ordinary Nigerians and the continued pattern of lavish and insensitive spending by those in power. At a time when citizens are tightening their belts, struggling to eat, and watching their businesses collapse, the politicians continue to spend huge budgets on their comfort and other non-essential extravagances. Leadership must lead by example, especially during difficult times. You cannot ask the citizens to fast while you feast. Sacrifice must begin from the top. True economic reform must be people-centred. It must protect the most vulnerable while pursuing fiscal sustainability. Reforms that deepen poverty, widen inequality, and crush small businesses cannot be described as successful. Nigeria is blessed with immense human and natural resources. What we require is leadership that prioritises prudence, compassion, and accountability, leadership that measures success not by elite comfort but by the well-being of the ordinary Nigerian. Nigeria must urgently and strictly implement policies that support development, expand production, small businesses, and protect vulnerable households. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO
