Man I wish this was posted on Twitter so I could include it in Worst Tweets. "Raw dogging the air" is a remarkable level of insane posting energy

@CoraCHarrington But I think so long as it’s disclosed on a placard what is original and what is replica and the accessories are appropriate for the time period, then that’s how it should be mounted. But I defer to people with curator expertise of course.

@CoraCHarrington I believe that museums should mount gowns in the most historically accurate way, but I think that accessorizing the mannequin makes that history come alive. I’m fine with replica pieces being used to accessorize even though the replicas will still have differences from originals

We discussed the gown that inspired this one in my costume mounting class as an example of how historical interpretation in the museum changes over time. As you can see, it’s been mounted 4 different ways. Do you have a preference? Does one read more “authentic” than the others?

My bestie and I made a version of the below English gown in about 16 hours in one sitting. Its almost completely handsewn except for the long vertical seams of the skirt

@CarlLately It feels like everyone is blaming everyone except the voters and non-voters, and I’m tired. It’s like there’s no personal responsibility for being an actual well-informed citizen or for people’s selfishness and stupidity.

@CarlLately Even that doesn’t work because things are nuanced and the media only “fact checks” those statements, plus there’s a right wing propaganda machine, plus empathy is at an all time low.
