I can’t understand why homelander was was able to fly to space and back in under 3 seconds but couldn’t outrun butcher tentacles?

Just saw this short and this is EXACTLY what I'm saying in video form so I don't have to worry about character limits.
If he was THAT beatable, the entire show is invalidated because...they could have just fucking jumped him with 4-6 of them the whole time.

What is this trend of writers making villains who are stronger, faster, smarter, more durable, and all around insurmountable. Just to suddenly lose all that at the last minute and be dog walked in a way that isn’t consistent whatsoever with what they’re capable of?
