@maybebrayyy So now your encouraging £50 tickets then? You were (rightly) complaining that football was too expensive. The club eventually got the prices right v Midtjyland and now you're encouraging them to practically double them from that🤦‍♂️ #NFFC

@ForestPresSoc @longlivethepast Just discovered that ScreenSport was a cable sports channel that, through other acquisitions, became Eurosport. Every day's a school day😃

@ForestPresSoc @longlivethepast A couple of years before that, to offset the loss of European football, the teams that would've qualified for Europe took part in the Screen Sports Super Cup (can't remember wtf Screen Sports was). Forest not involved but would've been had it lasted more than one season

Another nice addition to the #NFFC penalty-shoot-out record with our first ever in European competition. We now stand at 22 shoot-outs: Texaco Cup - 1 Football League Centenary Trophy - 3 League Cup - 9 FA Cup - 6 EFL Cup - 1 Play-Offs - 1 UEFA Cup - 1 We have won 18 of them.
The Forest Preservation Society@ForestPresSoc

Been looking at just how good #NFFC’s penalty shoot-out record really is. Very hard to confirm but there can’t be many other teams with a winning ratio as good. It’s undoubtedly a remarkable sequence we have built up over the last 43 years. A thread…

@longlivethepast @ForestPresSoc Look in the trophy cabinet, those Littlewoods cups of 89 and 90 - a bit different to the trophy won in 78 and 79. Half joking with you there. My main point previously was the difference between tournament and trophy is easily confused. But 'Football Festival' more distinguished

@longlivethepast @ForestPresSoc Although with their proper names (sponsors) it was the Mercantile Credit Trophy (Forest losing at Anfield). But the tournament you refer to (Wembley 40 min games) was actually called the Mercantile Credit Football Festival

@ForestPresSoc Objection, Matt! It was the FL Centenary Tournament in which we recorded three penalty shoot-out successes. Our run in the Trophy ended at the first hurdle in a 4-1 defeat at a half-empty Anfield. And given the Tournament only holds ‘friendly’ status, I’d say we’re really 15/19.

Today's my birthday and OTD I remember us beating Dynamo Berlin away (one of the most unsung European wins in the club's history btw). We lost 5-1 at home to Bayern Munich. And tonight, Mityjland will go down in the history books too. I was literally born to be a Forest fan #nffc

@FootballPaul82 @Emcoy_ @OneFootball That's not true. Its free in the UK but most countries have a mix of free to air games and paid subscription. Even in the host country, USA, 70 games are free and 34 are paid. I've experienced this as a fan at a world cup and it can be difficult to watch some games in a bar

@Emcoy_ @OneFootball Perfect sense, the World Cup is on 'Free to Air' channels all over the world, this move will encourage people who see the first 19 minutes to switch over to the TV stations, which drives up viewership, is better for sponsorship and will inevitably create more money for FIFA.

@henrywinter It's the 'on a club by club basis' that's the problem here. Clear rules and financial levels need to be set, otherwise there'll be accusations of bias, corruption, political inference etc, etc. And when the Government gets involved its inevitable to become a car crash anyway

New licensing system for the 116 clubs in Premier League, EFL and National League requires them to hold “sufficient resources” to steer them away from any potential “cliff edge”. Level of risk will be assessed on a club-by-club basis by Independent Football Regulator. From 2027/2028 season, clubs in the top five divisions will require a licence from the IFR in order to compete. Clubs need to show liquidity to meet their financial commitments and cope with "stress" such as relegation or withdrawal of owner funding. Club liquidity will be monitored on an ongoing basis by the IFR which can also impose measures such as “reducing expenditure or restructuring debt”. (Players not counted as liquid assets as “clubs cannot readily realise their value outside transfer windows”). Clubs must also show evidence of “having meaningfully consulted" with fans. “It cannot be right that so many clubs exist on a cliff edge where one change could threaten their entire existence – fans should be debating formations not finances,” says IFR CEO Richard Monks. “Our licensing regime will ensure that club risk is managed appropriately, creating a more stable environment for growth and investment.” Four “key risk factors” that IFR expects clubs to “monitor and mitigate” are... *Business Model – funding gaps between income and costs. *Liquidity & Cash flow – the ability to meet short-term financial obligations. *Solvency and Debt – risks to operating in the medium to long term. *Governance – adequacy of financial decision-making and risk management.

@KieranMaguire I remember in the early 90's Swindon and Chelsea were both involved with financial irregularities. I believe Chelsea's were worse but Swindon got relegated two divisions (one on appeal) and Chelsea got a fine. Nothing changes, the corruption is just more obvious nowadays

Interesting that in the Everton points deduction verdict the Premier League said “A financial penalty for a club that enjoys the support of a wealthy owner is not a sufficient penalty” and that “the requirements of deterrence, vindication of compliant clubs, and the protection of the integrity of the sport demand a sporting sanction in the form of a points deduction’. Presumably the Chelsea fine (which ultimately is just a deduction from what billion dollar Clearlake will pay to billionaire Abramovich from the £150m held back at the deal date) is then neither punishment, a deterrent or protecting the integrity of the sport? If I was an Everton or Forest fan would not be happy with this outcome.

@trickytrees12 I agree. But there's still hope by playing a weakened side in Europe. If by some miracle the weakened side can progress in Europe and by some miracle we beat Spurs and Villa, then the first team can come back for future Europa games

@MrTrickyTree Tbh I just think we need wins in the league and Villa with a weeks rest when they play on Thursday is our best hope at a home win. Sad but true 🤷‍♂️

It’s awful to think it but I genuinely hope we lose Thursday. Villa will have Europa and we’ll have a free week. It’s genuinely that important. Sad to think that way but I can’t see how we win it so it’s genuinely just an irrelevance now … #nffc

@trickytrees12 My way is not 'hoping' to lose though. Play a team where you might expect to lose but can still hope we win. Unfortunately, your 'hope' will probably be more relevant due to the team Vitor will likely play on Thursday. No way he plays the team I think he should

@MrTrickyTree Yeah unfortunately, I hate it. It’s awful that we have to think the way we do, but yeah, it’s obvious the best result for the club is we lose on Thursday. Shows what a shit show of a season it’s been!

For all those saying Forest are getting relegated because we can't score. Well, here's an opposite point of view, what if we don't have to score to stay up? 8 clean sheets = 8 points minimum and could be enough. Just saying #nffc

Ok. Further to my previous post, I didn't realise I I didn't pick 11, and forgot Netz can't play. So I'd take Williams instead of Netz and add an Academy striker up front next to Lucca. 3-5-2 #NFFC
