In an Orange County, Florida courtroom, Judge John Jordan looked at a Black woman before him and asked, “Have you ever chopped cotton?” He followed it with, “That’ll straighten you up,” reaching for the history of plantation field labor while deciding a Black defendant’s fate. She was in court on a felony battery case, facing community service, and instead of modeling impartiality and respect, the judge invoked imagery tied directly to the enslavement and exploitation of Black people. That is not a harmless joke; it is a reminder of who has power in that room and how casually our trauma can be weaponized from the bench. Jordan’s comments triggered a formal ethics case. The state’s judicial commission found that he violated the Code of Judicial Conduct and is recommending only a public reprimand, which he has agreed to accept, while allowing him to remain on the bench. So the result is this: the system agrees his words were wrong, but is still asking Black defendants to trust a judge who sees “chopped cotton” as a way to “straighten up” a Black woman standing before him.

@jack_turban @RaskinSalmo @Scienceofsport @hoovlet Because a lot of male athletes do not transition until they realise they can never win/achieve medals if competing as a man. Show me one world beating male athlete that has transitioned while at the top of his game and you might convince me otherwise.

If the estimated incidence of CAIS is between 1/20,000 and 1/99,000, and CAIS does not confer a competitive advantage, how can in the 1996 Olympic Games 3/3382 (1/1127) female athletes were diagnosed as CAIS??? @Scienceofsport @hoovlet

In March of 2023, a self styled “Goon Squad” of Rankin County officers kicked in the door of a Braxton, Mississippi home and tortured Michael Jenkins and Eddie Parker for nearly an hour and a half. They beat and tased them, used racial slurs, sexually assaulted them and shot Michael in the mouth. This was not a rogue unit acting in a vacuum. For years, families in Rankin County and across Mississippi have reported raids, beatings and humiliation at the hands of law enforcement with little to no accountability. The “Goon Squad” case simply forced the country to look at what Black residents have been saying all along. This post is not about shock value. It is a reminder that this level of violence is still possible whenever police operate without real oversight, transparency or consequences. If this could happen to Michael and Eddie just a little over three years ago, it can happen again. We need to stay informed and amplify their stories, and always demand structural change. Not just prison time for a few officers, but a policing system that will no longer do this to our kids and our community. 🎥: @ABC

@AmandaSamuels4 @KateBMwriting I don't but maybe others do. I definitely wouldn't have had the intellectual capacity to decide that removing a body part would resolve a problem though.

If you are telling your six year old son that cutting off his penis will turn him into a girl, you are a danger to children. Unbelievable that the Observer presents the parents’ bizarre complaints uncritically.

@thoucynical_ @KateBMwriting I meant that the child wouldn't know that particular body part was the problem unless an adult explained it. A child would not think laterally that removing his penis would 'make him a girl' unless someone explained sex assignment surgery to him.

Utter fuckwittery 🙄 Michael Phelps AT HIS PEAK was between 1% and 2% faster than his closest competitor. Males (inc TIMs) outperform females by between 10% and over 100% (depending on the discipline So, with all due respect, GFY 🖕🏻

What really kills me about this entire fabricated moral panic is nobody actually gives a shit about “physical advantages” in sports. In fact, we often celebrate them. Michael Phelps has an 80” wingspan and twice the lung capacity of the average human. Should he have been banned?

The narcissistic delusion of the trans identifying male extends far beyond the demand to be seen as a woman to a fantasy that all men find them irresistible, and what motivates “Terfs” is jealousy rather than the fact they are dangerously entitled men.
