I’ve written to @mybmc Commissioner Shri. Bhushan Gagrani proposing a congestion tax for Mumbai’s central business districts. Cities like London and Singapore have successfully implemented this. It’s time Mumbai does too. A pilot project in South Mumbai could offer critical insights whilst discouraging single-occupant vehicles, encouraging public transport, and reducing emissions. The recently tabled Economic Survey supports congestion pricing. I’m pushing for this policy to be included in the upcoming BMC budget. Revenue generated — estimated at ₹200-300 crore annually — will be reinvested into improving our city’s environment. Bold policies require conviction. Mumbai Coastal road promenade has been opened to the public today. A “Tiranga Rally” was taken out from Underpass No. 4 at Mahalaxmi (PUP) and Underpass No. 11 at Worli (PUP) to the promenade.
